Duke replaced by Crawford on first team

The difference is the fact that Duke is mentally tough enough to use this to better himself.

Duke don't pout

If you don't perform to the expectations demanded of the position, someone else will take your job. I wouldn't want it any other way.

I bet Georgia Tech is more ****ed about this than Duke. I wouldn't want to play against Duke when he is on a mission.

Good I always thought duke was over rated

Love the message it sends to the rest of the team and Duke. Protect the ball or someone else will.

PS. Duke will still get most of the carries when the games matter.

very true..............love the message though. I was saying the same thing after he fumbled last Saturday.

All of this. It sends a message to the entire team. If Duke can be benched anyone can. Step up or step aside.

...I still love Duke. No hate here.

Hey, love the move. Duke is a big boy and he understands the message. Would be easy to let him skate, but refreshing the Al is holding him accountable.

This, my friends, is the HC's main job. Pushing buttons. Keeping guys on edge and motivated and hungry. All the football scientists want to talk about schemes, but all those genius schemes are useless if the HC isn't pushing the right buttons and getting his team prepared mentally. You can have the greatest schemers in the world up in the booth, but if the players are half-stepping, you're going to lose.

Genius move by The Don. The winner that Duke is he will come out there spitting fire. God have mercy on GT's souls.

Dallas gets to start practice. Duke starts the game. As to saving him for the "games that matter," the only one that matters is the game you have coming up. And we are finally getting into conference play. Nonetheless, I like the not-so-subtle motivation.

Truthfully speaking, I liked Duke as a back-up RB last year. The combo of James & Duke was lovely. With James, he was a big back, productive and reliable (outside of the Maryland game fumble). After being pounded on by James, a tired defense had to deal with a fast, home-run hitter in Duke. Thunder and lightning! Plus, Duke was able to contribute more on special teams last year.

This year is totally different. The reason why Duke is starting this year is because he's a playmaker and he is our best RB. The only big RB to compliment Duke is Gus, but he needs another year to get stronger. And Dallas Crawford has been a blessing, but him starting full-time does not make our offense more explosive. We need Duke to start because of his playmaking ability. The only downside is that Duke can not start full-time at KR, but he can come in for special moments.

So basically what we have is a RB by committee type of run game. Duke is the starter and our home-run threat, Dallas is our grinder and TD maker, Gus is developing to be next our power back and Clements is our serviceable back that can produce when his number is called. I do not have a problem with the RBs we have this year...

He's just pushing Duke Johnson and rewarding Dallas Crawford.... it works both ways.

Duke Johnson is the most explosive offensive weapon on our team but he needs to take a page from Dallas Crawford and learn when to run hard/physical, and when to use ur main talent, which is being elusive, breaking ankles, making ppl miss.

Duke is indeed Dynamic, but he's always looking for the big run, rather than simply eating up yards that he see's in front of him. That's what Dallas does best; take the yards the defense gives him by default.

DC is not going to bust one for 75 yards+ However, there are times when Duke doesn't simply take the 6-7 yard gain, rather than gambling and settling for a 2 yard run.

...But at the same time, i personally don't think Duke is not 100% right now, and is feeling the effcts of the mild concussion initiated as FAU.

Duke has 3 fumbles in 4 games, that's unacceptable. I don't care who you are. Al is just holding everyone accountable, that includes your stars.

I thought he fumbled twice at USF at the goal line and that was it. When was the other one?

You know you're incorrect right? We had not fumbled once all season till Dukes two fumbles against USF

The first fumble by Duke was dumb, but at the same time it was just a mistake made trying to get an extra yard. It happens. The 2nd one was just not having your head in the action IMO. Long term it's basically a meaningless decision, but I agree with you, short term it's a message.

Not so sure it's meaningless long term if it gets Duke's attention to focus on ball security. I don't care how good a runner you are. If you turn the ball over frequently you are hurting your team. I'm sure this isn't news to Duke, but perhaps the fact of a consequence will help keep that focus.
