I hope so… if can get through this year showing promise that allows us to turn the corner with another elite class. At that point the overwhelming talent would get us winning consistently and we can start stacking even more classes. I just believe this year is very pivotal.

Wario Cristobum's 2-step Instafix for DT Recruiting

1. Move Kamado Joe to Director of Polynesian Recruiting
2. Take all the monies and give it to Ed Orgeron to be the new DL Coach (Include lifetime passes to all S. Florida's finest gentlemen's clubs if he doesn't accept immediately)

this isn’t a playoff roster yet but more than enough talent vs the acc
Richt and manny both had big second years
I expect the same from Mario

Seriously though- as you said, several positions are being recruited better than ever. WR and QB troubles are understandable as Cristobal (perhaps unfairly) has a reputation of wanting a conservative offense that he will need to shed. Andre Dawson can help that so I won't be overly pessimistic yet on that front.

As far as I know, Cristobal himself doesn't have a bad rap when it comes to DTs (like running a defense that doesn't let them put up numbers that can help getting drafted). So Occams Razor: all things being equal the simplest solution is to be preferred. The simple answer is Komodo Joe isn't a good DT recruiter. Now whether Cristobal fixes that problem or pulls a Golden and keeps Joe as his Island DNofrio, remains to be seen.

it’s crazy he couldn’t get a single somoan dt to transfer in or land not even one out of hs in 2 cycles
Francis is big but how long is he gonna live off of just that?

9 wins and we will absolutely clean up with Mario at the helm. I’m hesitant af about 9 wins. I honestly thought we were a 8-9 win team last year and it all went to **** real real quick. I think Dawson will help a ton on offense but I don’t think he is some savant. He is a solid OC who is light years better than we had thought. We are also crazy thin, a couple of key injuries and we are in major major trouble. I think we found a diamond in the rough with Guidry but the defense isn’t as talented as the offense.

I’m not worried about next year if he lands the dt class we think he will this year
Clemson not two long ago started bressee and Murphy as true freshmen
With the edges we have cooking
The caliber of dt he’s going after could play day 1

To me this year is just about health and moten
A lot depends on moten
Rj made a big jump after 1 year
So hoping for that from him
If he steps up this year won’t be too bad barring any major injuries

And Guidry only needs two dts anyway hahahah

I agree but I think Dawson is comparable to lashlee
And that Covid year if played a full schedule was a 10 win team
Yea the biggest thing will be injuries and we need one of those years we get all the bounces and win the close ones

This roster lacks depth, and injuries are a given in football. 9+ wins will only be possible if we stay healthy.

Moten was a beast in the spring game. I agree it's all about health this season because we are not a deep team at all.

recruiting hasn't even really 'picked up' so to speak this year, questions about Joe are relevant but it's dumb to say he's living off mauigoa when that was a MASSIVE land and when this cycle isn't over yet. That is a type of question that comes up next year if he strikes out this year

Jason Taylor just recently became a college position coach. He is literally one of the best DEs in the history of the NFL. He gets a couple cycles to prove himself. Salavea , however, already had a reputation for being a poor DT recruiter and teacher at the college level. So far he has only reinforced that narrative. I'm sure Cristobal will stick with him because he's loyal to those loyal to him, but it's going to be to the detriment of the program because DT recruiting is real bad. Close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Now if I'm wrong and he crushes DT recruiting next cycle, I promise to FedEx him a box of Leonard's Malasadas as an apology.
