DT Tywone Malone enters Portal

Here’s what I’ve realized with the portal. Every kid that hits the portal has an idea where they’re headed. So it’s three options , they know where they’re going and that’s where they end up , somebody gets involved after they hit then things change, or they make you think you’re the reason they hitting the portal. But you aren’t the only option.

Kinda like if you’re talking with a girl , you could be the only one “ talking “ with her, but there’s a chance there’s one or five other guys trying to finesse her, as she makes you think it’s only you. But yeah,most thought Malone was Miami bound. Osu may have jumped in after he hit or maybe they were flirting just like UM.

The portal is cray cray lol.

Even Wiltfong is wrong 10-15% of the time. No shame here. Recruiting is fluid especially when O$U is involved and the kid clearly wanted to be at O$U since HS

Not defending Mario but yeah the portal is ******* wild and I think everyone is trying to figure it out

not defending the staff blindly or shrugging this stuff off but yeah, this portal **** is mind blowing

People thinking we just write a blank check and everything is going to be ok are living in a different world

I don’t even know the inner workings but you can tell it’s ****ed up

We are still a 5-7 team trying to play catch up without getting used and abused by kids making business moves. Makes sense why the portal has been so all over the place

Part of the game. Can't blame anyone for a recruit opting to go elsewhere, far too many variables involved.

We don't need a body. We need a kid who can compete for starting reps. Could that have been Malone? Perhaps but he showed little so far. The kid wanted OSU since high school. He gets little burn this year which is quite possible. Back to the portal he goes.

That's how they got him, IMHO.

Maybe they weren't sure he was fully committed at playing only football at his next stop and so they didn't pull the trigger right after the visit.

Once they got assured they give him the green light.

Yes. It's impossible to prove without texts and e-mails, but you can connect the dots between Taint pursuing two other DTs more aggressively in 2020-21 and the kid's desire to play baseball, as well as the SUDDEN appearance of a committable offer now that the kid is willing to drop baseball.

Same Taint coach recruited him back then. Same two DTs are still on the Taint roster. Only one factor changed. That...plus Miami's offer...those are the things that shifted the equation.

At least you can understand the kid finally giving up on baseball after two seasons with only 20 at-bats.

Ole Miss DC at the time, Partridge was a former NJ HS coach. He got fired after this past season and went back to Michigan where he started his college coaching career.

He might possibly make the 2-deep this season now that he is 100%-football.

Will be interesting to see if his love of Taint outweighs the crappiness of sitting on the bench.

Chris Partridge was the Defensive Co thats how. He was a HS coach at Paramus Catholic before he went to Michigan. All the catholic schools in NJ are within 15 miles of each other. Partridge is also friends and played HS football with Tywone's HS coach Campanile (brother of the Dolphins Campanile).

Look, I realize that Partridge is one of the factors. But the bigger issue is that the schools that Tywone was more interested in did not prioritize him and backed off of him when he got hurt. Ole Miss stayed involved, had a DC from NJ, and they eventually got Tywone on National Signing Day when the better schools never came through.

My statement was facing the reality that it’s really late in the process and that striking out completely isn’t an option and we are staring down the barrel of just getting a JAG which is better than nothing.
