Dorsett runs 4.16

Fastest 40 yard dash ever was Bo Jackson 4.12 and he was 6'2" 240lbs. But still if Dorsett has a good day at the combine I expect a low 4.3 maybe high 4.2

Dorsett ran a 6.8 in the 60M. 40 yards = 36 meters, or 60% of the distance. Not saying the time would be linear (he's probably faster in the last 20 of a 60M than the first 20 of a 40), but 60% of 6.8 seconds is 4.08. Under 4.2 is not outside the realm of possibility if he kills the start.

The time that surprises me would be Duke under 4.4 with that new weight. He's never been a burner.

I never understood the "Duke has never been a burner" comment... The guy may not be Chris Johnson or Jamal Charles but he always had great speed... As a freshman most of all his long runs came from outrunning his opponents on the outside... He is also extremely quick... I do agree it seemed like he lost a step last year... But I always saw him as a 4.4 type player...

Duke is fast at about 30-40 yards…he is above average at 50+ yards for a skill player, but certainly not elite. You saw in the high school all star game and you've seen it here. He does get caught from behind.

He has been ran down a couple of times. Someone running a 4.3 is not getting ran down once they breakaway. Freshman year I would give him a 4.4. The extra weight made him lose that extra gear needed to turn those boosters.

People always confuse "speed" and "acceleration" when discussing Duke Johnson.

whats with all the doubting on Dorsette? he gets open allot, his speed and getting open was never a question. His catching needs some work but he is that deep speedy threat that the 4.3 .2 or .16 actually matter

I train guys for the combine•

Their pro-day numbers are better because they get flown in and this is what happens:

Day 1 hospital all day doing a battery of tests - then meeting with teams until after 11pm

Day 2 up at 4am for drug testing
Then go for measurements
Then the team doctors poke and prod at them
Team meetings again at night

Day 3
Functional movement screen
Wonderlic
Psychological tests
Bench press test
Team meetings

Day 4
Field tests

They are physically and psychologically drained by testing day. There's a lot of work we have to do to mentally prepare them to stay calm on that day. One of the WR I trained was testing in the low 4.3's but messed up his stance and first step then ran a 4.5. At his pro day he ran in the 4.3's again.

If Dorsett ran that time it may have been on a track with spikes.

Didn't Skeets Nehemiah run a sub 4.0 for the 49ers?
Hands of stone but super fast.

^^^ This!!! Duke has extremely quick acceleration (0-30yds), but his long "speed" is just a little better than average. If he was running a 100m sprint, I'm willing to bet that he would have a really good first 50, then get caught and passed by a good deal of the field in the second 50m of the race.

Doubting that he runs a 4.16 is crazy?

When did Duke get run down? (besides the Carolina game)

And don't say the Savannah State game, cause he changed direction like 30 times during that kick return.

Don't recall that one.

However, I do know that many people mistake being "run down" with a defender simply having an angle.

Many of the players ran their 40s today for testing. Dorsett wouldn't say anything except this.

@Dorsett_4: Hate telling people what I ran because they won't believe me lol

Duke Johnson's mom came out and said that Dorsett ran a 4.16. If true, that's an insane time. His knee must definitely be 100%

Other times according to her. Duke said that Swasey deserves a promotion
Herb -4.35
Coley-4.38
Tracy- 4.5
Duke-just under 4.4
Herb is fast but not 4.35 fast.

I know you said, "besides the Carolina game," but my man this illustrates perfectly his incredible acceleration and 30-40 yard speed…but he doesn't quite have that strength YET to keep pulling away. If Duke was timed at The Combine last year (cause we haven't seen him this year), I'd say he runs about a 4.45-4.48

With all of that said, it's being overly critical of one of the most special players in the entire country and to ever wear a Canes uniform. Absolutely love the guy--he bleeds Orange and Green.
