Do we break out this season, or is it "wait till next year"?

We should be playing in a BCS bowl game this year nothing less... 1 lost if any... next year we should be a whole lot better but the QB position is what scares me for 2014... do we go with a senior QB in Ryan Williams or a RS SO in Olsen... I for 1 think Olsen will be great here but not that early... I really hope Williams can put it all together and be that guy next year.

Anything less than 10-2 is a dissapointment. Dorito's defense ranked #22 in 2011 and it took a step back because we had a lot of guys go pro before they should have. I don't think mental error's will be a big problem anymore. They played a bend but don't break defense because we've had so many young guys. My source? Al Golden and Dorito themselves. When Al said "We are going to have to score a lot of points this season" So they went up temp. Dorito just wanted the D to not be a disaster. Bend but don't break. That experiment failed. They will be a lot more aggressive this year. This is a team that runs well to the football. Not wrapping up or not being in you assigned spot will be the killers.
This defense will be top 50. If it's not then yes Dorito needs to go.

Offensively, gotta be a litte more consistent on drives. Miami went 9-3 last year. No one should expect to have the same record.

Miami went 7-5 last year.

So if Miami goes 10-2 with a D ranked in the 70s you fire the DC? Riiiiight. Still a young team, particularly on D.

I feel we got robbed from UVA and UNC. I know we actually went 7-5 but the reality is that we had the potential of a 9-3 team last season. So who would want the same record?
Yes a Miami defense ranked in the 70's would be terrible. I backed Dorito in the beginning of the post stating that he had the #22 ranked defense in 2011. No one goes from #22 to #113 or whatever we were in the hundreds. So yes my expectations are high for this season. I think we will lose to UF and beat FSU en route to an 11 win season. IDK know if we'll beat Clemson in the ACCG but that is my expectations from the season. So I will be one of the fans upset if we don't get 10+ wins. That would mean the boys didn't play to their potential.

We played FSU great last year, I'm sure we beat ND with the two touchdowns to Dorsett and the way we played the first half. The only game where Miami got DOMINATED from start to finish was KSU. Which baffles me because we played them great just the year before.

I agree in spirit but

1. we did not get robbed at UVA, we lost our D played horrible
2. UNC, the 2 point thing you could argue but overall we were trailing and their RB was running all over our D
3. FSU we started great but couldn't keep up at the end
4. ND & KSU were better teams withs better talent. we were not going to beat ND in that stadium, in that weather that year.

the ONLY way Miami gets back on top, we need a new D coordinator. We need a Coley of the D.

If our defense climbs up 20-30 spots in the rankings, we will be significantly better.

I'm talking about 10-11 wins "better".

Those loses to UNC and UVA were inexcusable.

With a marginally better defense, we would have been, at worst, a 9-3 team last year.

Agree, I see 10-2 or 11-1 this year. Call it summer time optimism but I love the offense and the defense has to be better, right?

We don't have a choice we must turn the corner this year the cloud is lifting

experience is there...We need to take back what is ours...the stage in the national sport light and the "STATE OF FLORIDA"

We will only be underdogs in two games, one's at home, so a split of those and beat the teams we should and that's an 11 win squad. A single post season win would mean 12 -2. That should be the expectation. It's not asking too much to beat the teams you're supposed to, and have a marquee win each season. If there aren't 12 wins including either an ACC championship or a bowl win, Golden needs to be on the hot seat.

My thoughts exactly as expressed in my post. The only games we should lose are the UF or FSU game.

Let's also be real for a moment, even though we have sucked for a while we have beaten ranked teams before. Ohio state in 2011 who turned around and went 12-0 this year. To be real we will probably split UF/FSU anything less than 10 regular season wins means that we had an upset somewhere. Its doubtful that we go 12-0 but we have been blessed with an relatively easy schedule minus UF/FSU. Louisville is already my pick to be in the NC because of their schedule. If they don't go 12-0 this season there will be many questions raised about UL. Overrated? Yes they are. But they don't play anyone similar to 2012 Notre Dame(minus Stanford and USC)

I Agree with you. You have made many solid points here. I just think that late UVA TD was so wack man.

So while some here expect 8-9 wins I'm in the group that believes we need 10+ wins or I'll be extremely disappointed with this group.

If we lose to UNC, VTech, or UVA this season I will personally burn down the new Schwartz building.

There is NO excuse to be losing to any of those teams at this point.

UF and FSU are the only "toss up" games for me, and that's only because FSU is an away game (even though I really can't imagine us losing to FSU four times in a row).

This...I despise FSU and UF but at least they have good squads - I cannot take losing to any **** ACC Team. I want to sweep all ACC teams except allowing for FSU to be a toss-up game this season.

10 wins, minimum.

Aything less is a straight up fail, considering the team could be playing a 14 game season.

This is a pivotal season for Golden and for our program. This should be Golden's best season as our head coach. I expect at least a ten win season and that includes the bowl game. No waiting until...get it done.

Utterly ridiculous.

Is 8-9 wins acceptable to you? Is that a Miami standard to you? Is that how you feel about the program?

I'm not assuming that's why I decided to ask.
