Do we break out this season, or is it "wait till next year"?

Do you think we break out in 2013? ( I mean no losing to UNC or UVA or other half *** ACC teams, beat a UF or FSU, win Coastal, maybe win ACC CG).

Or do you see a 8-4 (that would mean some bad losses) or 7-5, and 2014 for any great improvement?

I think Miami is going to be very good this year. The Defense will be a top 50 defense which will allow the offense to score at will. Miami can beat any team on the schedule this year.

To me this is the year 17 will produce with a 28ppg offense defense will improve with maturity. Also I coaching decesions will get better. We beat Florida and hopefully we compete with FSU 11-2

If our defense climbs up 20-30 spots in the rankings, we will be significantly better.

I'm talking about 10-11 wins "better".

Those losses to UNC and UVA were inexcusable.

With a marginally better defense, we would have been, at worst, a 9-3 team last year.

Your strength gives me strength! I hope.

Beating UF would definately be a sign that we back.

Miami should "break out" this year. Even with its mediocre defense.

There aren't any high powered offenses on the schedule. Miami's offense should be able to keep up with any team if it gets into a shoot out, which is likely to happen a few times.

Anything worse than 9-3 is a disappointment.

Anything less than 10-2 is a dissapointment. Dorito's defense ranked #22 in 2011 and it took a step back because we had a lot of guys go pro before they should have. I don't think mental error's will be a big problem anymore. They played a bend but don't break defense because we've had so many young guys. My source? Al Golden and Dorito themselves. When Al said "We are going to have to score a lot of points this season" So they went up temp. Dorito just wanted the D to not be a disaster. Bend but don't break. That experiment failed. They will be a lot more aggressive this year. This is a team that runs well to the football. Not wrapping up or not being in you assigned spot will be the killers.
This defense will be top 50. If it's not then yes Dorito needs to go.

Offensively, gotta be a litte more consistent on drives. Miami went 9-3 last year. No one should expect to have the same record.

Miami went 7-5 last year.

So if Miami goes 10-2 with a D ranked in the 70s you fire the DC? Riiiiight. Still a young team, particularly on D.

ok here is the deal

3 scenarios

1. we bet UF and lose to FSU = if only we had a better D coach.. fire Doritto!
2. we lose to UF and beat FSU = i don't care, we wont the game that matters the most
3. we beat both FSU and UF = we back!!!! NC caliber, why are we not a top 2 team??! this is madness!!

I feel we got robbed from UVA and UNC. I know we actually went 7-5 but the reality is that we had the potential of a 9-3 team last season. So who would want the same record?
Yes a Miami defense ranked in the 70's would be terrible. I backed Dorito in the beginning of the post stating that he had the #22 ranked defense in 2011. No one goes from #22 to #113 or whatever we were in the hundreds. So yes my expectations are high for this season. I think we will lose to UF and beat FSU en route to an 11 win season. IDK know if we'll beat Clemson in the ACCG but that is my expectations from the season. So I will be one of the fans upset if we don't get 10+ wins. That would mean the boys didn't play to their potential.

We played FSU great last year, I'm sure we beat ND with the two touchdowns to Dorsett and the way we played the first half. The only game where Miami got DOMINATED from start to finish was KSU. Which baffles me because we played them great just the year before.

If we beat Uf and Fsuck then we should be undefeated and win the ACC outright. I honestly don't see that happening. We have to beat Fsuck and win all ACC games no doubt this we all know. A 10-2 or even 9-3 season would be a big turn around IMO, but that also means we not only lose some big games (Uf/Fsuck) but we also lose a game we definitely shouldn't. Our O will be tops no doubt, we just need to get better in the RZ. Our D is still the unknown. If Robinson and Porter are able to stay healthy and we get some JUCO's ready to play 12-0 to 10-2 is a good possibility. This will also definitely help our D to jump into the top 50 or higher like most on here think will happen. Realistically I think we go 10-2, win the Coastal, hopefully beat Clemson and end up ranked in the top 15 if not higher. Long explanation I know but that's my 2 cents.

UM is gonna score a ton of points and have many big plays this year if everyone stays reasonably healthy...

there aren't too many teams on the schedule that will be able to keep up with this team on offense....

11-2/10-3/going to a bowl game and having national buzz again is my expectation for this year, gonna be fun watching this offense light it up...

Based on what we know, and what I have heard, I am going conservative 10-2. I have said this before, I do know the feeling around Greentree is anything less than 10 wins is a failure this year. That's how confident they feel

There have been many teams that have made drastic improvements in one season. Why can't Miami? Its like dudes expecting us to be mediocre. Smh.

our defense only gave up 18 points. Bernard lit our asses up, but the offense was really bad in that game. couldn't score. moved the ball fairly well, couldn't score.
