Do people really think Mario has no plan or idea…

Oh my god $8M dollars !!!!!!!! lol. Yall never will admit yall are dead wrong about that will ya? Once again, Mario isn't even paid top 15.

The University of Miami (Fla.) paid football coach Mario Cristobal $22.7 million in 2022, including $7.7 million in base pay and $14.9 million in “other reportable compensation,” according to a federal tax form released by the university Tuesday to USA TODAY sports.

This is the largest-ever, single-year amount for an athletics department employee on a tax form by a private university, according to USA TODAY Sports research. The university did not go into further detail about why he was paid that much except that it paid “gross-up payments” to Cristobal and others — payments that cover income taxes so that the recipient receives a set amount of pay.

Your point is that Miami is using the portal out of necessity because they lack depth while other schools use it to upgrade at key positions.

My point is that you guys are talking about a roster overhaul, which sounds a bit dramatic.

From where I sit, Miami needs: 1 QB, 1 WR, 1 C, 1 DE, 1 DT, 3 DBs. And you could make an easy argument that not all of those guys need to be high-end starters.

Your missing out on back up RB and TE and probably another Tackle and WR based off of theoffers Miami's thrown out which puts Miaimi at 12. Thats as close to an overhaul as you can get and one that shoudn't be happening in year 4.

For all you sad sack of **** mopers. Does this look like the face of a man with no plan or idea?

... Yeah we had to pay a buyout lol.
How about you use average contract like a sane person which is what the $8M is.

So if he had $22M one year, maybe he isn't getting $8M/yr right now lol Ever think of that. What if we only paid him $5M this season! WOW look at how much he overperformed his pay!

Still the most ever paid by a private institution for an athletic dept employee. He may not get paid a top 15 salary but he sure cost a **** of a lot.

Also, he does get paid a top 15 salary. Number 14.

And his take-home pay may be more than other coaches higher on the list, as it sounds like UM pays a plus up to offset his fed taxes per the USA Today article. He may pocket his full salary.

Oh no those two schools just replace there starting QB's with 5 star back ups in Gunnar Stockton and Julian Sayin at QB.

Theres a big difference in going to the portal for 3-5 spots a year and what Miami is having to do in year 4 when they need another 10+ guys to start/ play in the rotation nexy year.
Especially when most spent the last 2 seasons brow beating anyone who questioned the results on the field with “building it the right way”

"he cost a **** of a lot"... yeah he cost LESS than the 15th most... If you say that is a **** of a lot, then what are the top 5?

I really don't know why you use the 1 time payment as some major metric lol. Riley is making $10M/yr - 25% more than Mario, yet because he only had a one time payment of $19M it's.... what just a medium cost? lol. Its a dumb as **** point. In fact its dumber because that was in 2022 he was paid that, not this year even lol.

Oh no we could just replace our starting DT with 5 star, and our OT with a 5star, and our WR with high 4 stars, and our lb with high 4 stars..... lol.

Is USC paying his California and fed income taxes? If they aren't, what do you think his actual take home pay is? when I lived in Hawaii, I wasn't making Lincoln Riley money but my effective tax rate (HI state tax + Fed tax) was around 45%. So Uncle Sam and Auntie Hawaii took almost half my paycheck. I imagine CA is probably a similar tax burden.

Prove Miami is paying Marios taxes yearly and not just the taxes that were neccessary to be included to fully account for paying his buyout ....
Why does it matter if they are increasing the payment to cover the taxes or not, the amount paid is the amount paid, and the amount paid for Mario is not top 15 lol. What the **** does it matter to us what the take-home pay is after tax. The school is paying X. That's what matters. Obviously.

Why does after-tax take home pay matter? You are joking, right? Have you ever had a job and paid taxes?

Are you really being this obtuse lol.
It matter for the person receiving it not when ranking how much schools are paying their coaches lol. We pay our guy not even top 15, period. His take home pay is irrelevant. Our Budget is $X. It doesn't magically increase or decrease cause the coach has to pay more or less in taxes lol

So Mario can’t notice lack of talent on defense? Does he not understand defense?

He is the talent acquisition god. If he couldn’t recruit over him, what’s he here for?
That’s what I say about our dc . Everything I hear he’s a lazy recruiter and clearly can’t identify and develop talent .

If you can blame only Guidry for Jaden the lack of talent then you can reward only Dawson for Cam. Either Mario gets all the blame and all of the credit, or none of it.
This guy was not only the DC but coached the safeties and thought putting Jaden out there was a good idea.

It’s what we should be doing. Hopefully Samson takes the leap.

Maybe in 3 more years we can say the same about DB
