Dmoney question.

People keep bringing up Pickett. Yes, he would have been great to have, but he is not an early starter. Most evaluations of him are about how he's a freak athlete who could potentially play multiple different positions but he is raw and needs development. He would not be a solution for next year anyway. Antoine is likely an earlier starter at QB than Pickett. Hanks is a legacy who isn't going anywhere but UF. We also got two other 4 star CBs on signing day.

We need ready to go, experienced CBs from the portal right now, and the portal is still open and we're apparently in communication with a number of them
We have needed these every cycle Mario has been here and we still need them today. That's a major L as it stands today.

Following someone else's footsteps is the best way to survive a minefield.

Mateer reminds me of the guy at work who does his own research and ends up with off brand versions of the good ones everyone else has, then when it turns to ****, he defends his logic.
So Mateer watched Cam win games and you want him to follow in his footsteps of Cam being the one to win the games:
- overrated line
- uncertain RB room if Martinez leaves
- all new / unproven receivers
- unproven TE's
- defense sucked and has not been fixed

Or he goes with his coaches and charts his own path vs. being compared to Cam when Miami doesn't win the same amount of games.

OU:
- what O line?
- Second leading rusher was QB with 444 yards. Lead rusher had 577. Fletcher had 545.
- CJ Daniels > UAPB transfer.
- Lofton & Williams 248 yds >Sharp & Roberts 419. Arroyo had 526
- Defense is a known issue and Ward still got to the NY stage.

OU has to build an entire offense, He'd be stepping into the number one offense here.

hes frustrated for being gas lit
I didn’t tell him any of this would be fast. His “receipts” are his memory.

He’s frustrated and lashing out. That’s fine. I deal with it with my kids. As far as the off-season, I’m waiting to see how the whole thing plays out. This wasn’t a 10-win roster in December 2023.

How many injuries on the Line and WR did OU have last year that people are basing the season's results on?

We are rebuilding a lot, too. Cam had a lot to do with the #1 offense. That is not #1 plug and play or there would be a dozen QBs lined up to step in, no?

its just annoying how slow Mario is with the staff changes. no reason Guidry should be employed.

I get all that, but if you were looking at it from an OU perspective, Miami is objectively more attractive. At least we have the claim to number 1 offense. We can say Dawson helped improve Ward's draft stock. We have a decent Oline returning. We have RBs and TEs who have produced and we're improving receivers in the portal.

OU only has promises of all of that with Mateer as the starting point.

miami is def more attractive right now. id say we were in a similar spot with OU when we got cam ward though. didnt prove anything and QB play regressed

Fair all around. But why not follow his coaches, and the money, to the conference that is perceived to matter?

His call. Our call is to get a top QB1

Possibly, but we beat Clemson with Emory and were heading for a comeback against FSU with him, so it was obvious we had more going for us than just the QB.

an incredibly average clemson team that was carried by the defense. emory made some plays in the seocnd half but he looked awful in both games.

we werent but with the way the D is trending and if guidry is back, we might be again.

our OL will be good again and im confident in the run game tho i hate our run scheme.
I feel like there will be a change on defense. I'd bet Mario has already written an offer letter and is putting it in the mail any day now.

he still uses snail mail rather than docousign or Adobe Sign.

I get what you're saying but OU kinda sucks and Venables is a ****.

If Mateer comes here and wins 9 instead of 10, is that a knock?

I know someone who is a major OU fan, and they're not exactly bullish on Venables right now.
