I mean he is acting like Dmoney has any control in what is happening with the program.
As far as getting gaslighted... all I can say is tak the information given with a grain of salt.
I enjoy his reporting but nothing in recruiting should ever be taken as gospel.

So Lately our recruiter has been losing recruiting battles. Venables in particular seems to stuff him in a locker for all the too guys we want. So now we’ve got a recruiter that is struggling to recruit. And we know he’s not a good coach.

Most contracts have an offset ... so if he was due $1.5M from us and get's hired by McDonald's University to put the fries in the bag then his minimum wage earnings are an offset against the $1.5M we owe

I posted this November 22 in the QB portal thread:

Biggest problem with Mateer is his OC is going to be a hot name this offseason for bigger programs looking for a new OC.

Unless the OC isn’t hired away until after the December portal window closes, I would put my money on Mateer going wherever his OC goes


Please tell me I’m not more plugged in than our coaches. Because I’m not plugged in at all. So if they didn’t know what I knew, to the point that it is a “major setback,” massive changes have to happen.

They thought they could overcome all that with Dawson, who had just coached Cam into the 1st round. They were wrong, and now we will portal for Cuban Emory.

As I said, if they actually did not know what everybody else knew, to the point that I knew it almost a month ago, then that is inexcusable.

Mateer going with his OC being a “setback” is a monumental failure on the part of Mario. I would actually put it up there with not kneeling at GT. That’s how big of an unforced error it is.

At this point, they should just spend thier money on 5* freshman and sophomores at other schools who are sitting behind someone. At every position. We aren't winning **** this year anyway without a QB and that ship sailed. Best plan then is to build for 2026 and beyond. Get a bunch of young talent and make up for that garbage disaster of a HS recruiting class. Play the young kids this year to develop them.

There's NO POINT in going after someone like Mendoza, bringing in a bunch of expensive senior recievers or whatever. Just build for 2026.

They knew OU was likely. Mateer told people he didn’t want to follow in Cam’s footsteps.

Mateer is a really good player, so it’s a setback we couldn’t change his mind. But they haven’t put all their eggs in that basket.

If that was really his mentality, then I’m less upset. Not wanting to follow in his footsteps? What kinda soft **** is that? That’s nuts to me.

Did they not like Mensah at all? We didnt even throw our hat in ring it seems, kid is talented and multiple years. Seems like a miss to let go to duke

He can be his own self at UM. No one expects him to be Cam. They are two completely different players. Seems like he doesn’t want the pressure of following up Cam, but that’s crazy to me. You go to a worse situation because of pressure? Again, if that’s the truth, it indicates a soft mentality.

I agree the coaches should have seen it coming, though. I have a real bad feeling about next year.

look it really seems like this was a done deal the moment he entered. it was obvious I guess to everyone but us. he followed his coaches. happens all the time. the **** that is getting fed out is now excuses for not Landing him or even getting a visit.
