Dmoney question.

I didn’t tell him any of this would be fast. His “receipts” are his memory.

He’s frustrated and lashing out. That’s fine. I deal with it with my kids. As far as the off-season, I’m waiting to see how the whole thing plays out. This wasn’t a 10-win roster in December 2023.
Curious for your views on why we’re seemingly lacking urgency in the portal? Ole Miss and LSU came out of the gate swinging and we’ve broken even at wr and signed a safety despite numerous roster holes.

So Mateer watched Cam win games and you want him to follow in his footsteps of Cam being the one to win the games:
- overrated line
- uncertain RB room if Martinez leaves
- all new / unproven receivers
- unproven TE's
- defense sucked and has not been fixed

Or he goes with his coaches and charts his own path vs. being compared to Cam when Miami doesn't win the same amount of games.

OU is in a worse position than we are. He may have reasons for going there, but it aint because OU has a better roster than us.

Hopefully he tanks and they lose every game. **** that guy. He aint here. He aint one of us. He's a paid professional and that's my position on that.

I get what you're saying but OU kinda sucks and Venables is a ****.

If Mateer comes here and wins 9 instead of 10, is that a knock?

I know someone who is a major OU fan, and they're not exactly bullish on Venables right now.
Agreed. I am in the camp of I am not surprised Mateer went to OU, or other QBs are not running into Miami acting like we are all of a sudden a QB savior.

Still time on the clock for a QB1.

OU beating Bama soundly was likely the best game either OU or Miami played or similar to us beating UF.

Each season is a new one. Expectation should be ACC Championship and Playoff in 2025 for Miami. OU would be irrelevant to us, if they would just stop stuffing Mario in a locker.

Agreed.

But we’re also in a much worse position than we were in December of 2023, so I personally believe the level of urgency needs to be ramped up in the winter window rather than the Spring.

Last year we pretty much whiffed on adding and elite RB, DT and CB in the winter window, and luckily got Martinez and Barrow in the Spring. We had some continuity on defense as well, which obviously didn’t end up being a good thing…but still, on paper it didn’t need a ton of fixing.

Now we don’t have the QB, we need WRs, we’re allegedly making massive defensive replacements but won’t announce it til after the bowl game (which is stupid in my opinion but will respect the decision), we need DTs, CBs, Safeties…more holes regarding coaching and player personnel.

I just question the whole process and chain of command. We haven’t even factored in the players that will leave after the bowl game.

But I’ll see it out through the winter before making any emotional reactions, then again after the spring.

Mario is many things, but passive isn't one of them. He is extraordinarily urgent in talent acquisition.

Whether he wins these competitive battles remains to be seen- that's why they play the games and keep score. But he's attacking it hard while also doing everything possible to get the 11th win.

Do you suspect we will reallocate the funds from Mateer into Silver, singleton? Or those ships sail away?

How is it lucky that we got them in the spring? Are you saying you expect no good players to enter in the spring? Come one get real. Use history as proof. There will be guys in spring available. And we will lose guys in spring as well.

On paper the exact thing that needed fixing was there from last December until this December. The problem was always DB.

You were saying the exact same thing about the 2024 season before it began as you are saying now. You may predict like 1 less win than you did last year just due to QB lol.

The difference this off-season is we absolutely have young guys that at this point NEED to start contributing. At some point we have to trust guys going into their so/Jr yr that are very talented will step up. It's as simple as that. Like at WR we have talent. It's not like if we miss Singleton we are devoid of talent lol. Yes we need another wr, doubly so if we end up going with Emory/Nickel competition. But like TE/OL ... It's really not such a big need that it's a failure if we don't add imo.

Literally get 1 WR and Mendoza, and the rest just add defensive guys. If all we do is get one more WR, and 1 DT and CB I think it is probably a pretty good winter portal for us.

Sigh. I read one or two sentences, and per usual, here’s how the rest of it went

The truth is no result will stop you and others from being a mope. It just is what it is at this point. Yall love to say everyone else moves the goal posts but the reality is YOU were talking about how we were only winning 8 games before this season started. How we failed so hard in the portal yet got the best player and possibly 2nd or 3rd best DT last portal period which was in the spring period... Oh and all y'all love to ignore that y'all all thought lane killed it in portal (and I'm sure he's killing it again!) and was going to compete for national championship because of it.... Meanwhile what was the result? LMFAO... And that was with us having the ****tiest DB room/performances we have fielded here in what - decades?

Now I'm sure you will be talking about how 6 or 7 is our ceiling this year and this portal period including spring will have been another failure. But if our offense still looks good to great, and our defense is improved with all the young guys stepping up this season, you and others will be right back here talking about anything less than undefeated is a failure.... Just Watch if we start next season 4-0 with wins against UF and ND how everyone moves the goal posts they are setting today before the winter portal even finishes.... But if you dare say Mario outperformed, you're just a sleeper lol. I'll use your guys favorite line .. I'm just being real..

How many injuries on the Line and WR did OU have last year that people are basing the season's results on?

We are rebuilding a lot, too. Cam had a lot to do with the #1 offense. That is not #1 plug and play or there would be a dozen QBs lined up to step in, no?
OU entered the game with Texas with their top five wide receivers out with injury.

We also have no ide what each team is willing to spend, and if they are vastly overspending in a particular position group. For all we know, Florida allocated $5M out of a $30M NIL budget for 2025 to Wilson. Or OU allocated $8M on a $20M NIL budget to Mateer.

Texas Tech f ing ROLLING everyone in portal and Miami sitting on their thumbs???? Ole Miss killing it as well.
We going to get a bunch of left overs and prob overpay for them at the rate we are
Going

Anyone objectively looking at our hs and portal recruiting has to admit it has been subpar up until this point and we are reaching the point where the lack of meaningful gains is going greatly harm our ability to compete for an ACC Championship over the next two years. Hope we stop this trend soon but man it has been tough to endure.

dudes dont wanna play for a lame duck DC whos trash.

mario moves like a sloth with coaching changes/portal whereas it works wiht recruiting bc you can build a relationship over a period of time, but wiht portal, its quick evals, quick decisions. you never let a kid leave unsigned in the portal.
