2024 DL Kamarion Franklin 2.0 (commits to Ole Miss)

Silver lining here? If Franklin picks AU or Miss then we’re getting Stone (according to our staff).. so we celebrating tomorrow regardless!

Drink up, it’s Friday.
In all seriousness Franklin is a beast but if I gotta pick, you put Stone on a line with Bain and call it a wrap for the other team. Long way to go before he gets on the field but Stones Junior tape is as impressive as I’ve seen in a long time.

It always amuses me how off the rails threads end up.

its time to accept that being a great recruiter doesnt mean **** anymore at least this cycle. well land some top tier kids but overall, the biggest bags will win especially when you arent OSU, Bama, UGA type of a consistent winner.

were basically acting broke again.
Good thing we hired a “guru” recruiter instead of an X’s and O’s guy then!

Who’s to say the kid can decide to leave in 4 months? Ask UF and Rashada how that went with UMs contact. It ain’t that simple as “just be the highest bidder at NSD”…. Some states (list is growing quickly) allow kids to sign NIL and contracts in HS.

Pressure gets the commitments/signatures early. Binding structure keeps the commitment in DEC.
But the punchline to the UF/Rashada situation is he didn’t sign with us lol - which from a Miami perspective is all that matters.

My real point is what the **** is the point on keeping on going higher matching/beating NIL offers in August - particularly for kids we feel WILL make decision based on NiL exclusively when come December we’ll be in another bidding war whether committed or not?

So for me I think we set our NIL and what we think a guy is worth and don’t move from that in august. Keep recruiting guys and then come November/December we can revisit the NIL offer and see what the fair market price is. This also gives us their senior year to evaluate. Look it’s be one thing if we got their commitment and it locked out NIL price and then in our class. But that’s not reality for some kids. I think for a lot once they commit they’re done. But not all of them. And those are the ones we need to be careful about constantly bidding the price up

No one on here knows what “overpaying” is at this moment.
As a matter of fact, I don’t think anyone knows what recruits are getting.
We heard 8million for Nico at Tennessee and 13 million fake offer from UF.

Reall easy to say “overpay if you’re serious about winning”.

You know who else is serious about winning?
Osu
Texas
USC
LSU
Bama
UGA

Not on his list.

At some point your serious about winning and at some point you’re a sucker.

This kid is good and has a high potential. But he hasn’t played one down and there is also the possibility of injury and even a higher possibility of being a bust based on recruiting history. Not every elite player ends up in the league.

At some point you have to take players and family who’s primary motivation isn’t just money.

I always tell people money can be in your top 3 or 5, but it should never be number 1 on your list when making a decision.

If someone’s motivation is only money then you’ll have to fight for them every time the transfer portal opens.
The teams on that “serious about winning” list aren’t desperate for talent. Missing on this kid won’t make a difference to their roster and adding him, won’t put them over the top, they’re already there.

Teams like Miami and Auburn have to pay more and be willing to overpay to get the big fish, if they want to land guys that will take them to the next level.

Nope. I was in the cut with @Memnon the day he was hired like “oh boy”. I’m not new to thinking we blew it again lol
I’ve turned heel. I wanted Freeze first but had Mario in my top 3 because I thought he would be able to stack elite talent (top 5 classes) with the new landscape and money. Ive lost all my optimism the last few months
