2025 DJ Pickett 5* CB from Zephyrhills Commits to LSU

And now you just confirmed you don’t know ball.

@Rellyrell do we have to introduce why stars matter again?

Do you guys want me to pull up Bama’s classes from 2010 - 2020 or FSU’s during their run with Jimbo and show how many Top 50 players they hoarded? How about Ohio State? What about UGA the last 6 years? You know, the programs that actually won national championships instead of people running around celebrating rose bowl victories?

This board has no idea what elite looks like, because we haven’t seen it. People got a taste with it via Cam and think it validates everything.

Mario has been a tremendous closer. But to say we’ve lost ONE recruiting battle…lmao you’re a full blown sheep if you believe that. There’s no shame in losing battles to the big boys (Inniss, Hykeem Williams, Colin Simmons, Dylan Stewart, Aguero, Kevin Riley, CJ Baxter, Connor Lew, Jeremiah Smith, Chris Cole, Air Noland, I could keep going but you get the point now). Sometimes the prospects don’t pan out. Sometimes they do.

But to say we are like Saban at Bama or Kirby at UGA, getting whoever we want…lies lol.

Yep. I’ll say it again- bama, uga and osu have been fielding too 3 classes for the last 10 years or so. That is very different than what we’re doing - occasional 5 star mixed in with some good 3 star evals. That’s great but when you’re vying for cFP every year, you need to recruit a lot better.

Having “nice players” gets you 8-9 wins. Having elite gets you 10-11+. We are at the former.

In 2023/2024 Miami signed 5 5*

That’s more than Oregon, LSU, Oklahoma, USC, Tennessee, Penn State, etc

Only ones who signed more were Bama, UGA, Texas

It’s the same amount as Ohio State

TrumpyCane still waiting to see who we end of signing next week, Pickett seems like the only other 5* we can flip which would be a disappointment

Definitely the former with mediocre coaching if you’re just landing “nice players”

Like I said - these other teams have been doing it for 10 years. Us? Only a couple

SMU plays in a 35k stadium that they can’t even sell out…it’s not a place high school recruits are wanting to play for…

They’ve got 29 commits…4 players in the top 500 in the composite rankings

Miami has 18 guys in the top 500 out of 23 commits on the other hand
That will change for them playing in the ACC ship their First season in the conference. They have the Money now they have the results.

They’ll never compete with TAMU and Texas

ACC isn’t something kids speak about wanting to play in either
They don’t need to compete with them, they just have to compete with other ACC schools which isn’t asking a lot. ACC champion has an automatic bid and will get a bye and a home game. Their money is the equalizer for the Portal and HS NIL like it has been for Miami. It won’t be just like Miami but similar. There are still elite players who hold game day experience and half empty stadiums against Miami. LSU has sucked and is a dumpster fire and DJ is still leaning LSU despite Miami’s season and having relatives on the team?!

THIS 100000%....I'll continue to scream from the hilltop, until UM gets the **** outta the ****** ACC, they will always be at a recruiting disadvantage when going against the brand name schools for the top talent.

As a Texas native I don’t think I agree with this. You give Dallas kids a reason not to leave the Triple and they’ll take it’s that’s why a lot of them end up at OU. Smu start winning they’ll get enough talent to be a problem

Yup

They just were never up there with the big money ballers dropping bags in recruiting like OSU, Bama, UGA etc
Well they didn’t play the bag game. A lot of schools have money and weren’t protected by the NCAA like those you mentioned
