2025 DJ Pickett 5* CB from Zephyrhills Commits to LSU

We argue in such extremes here it’s crazy. Mario signed back to back to back Top 10 classes for a team that was .500 for three years in a row until now during 20 years of mediocrity. I agree that relative to UGA and Bama his classes weren’t ranked highly enough. I also think his classes are factually high enough to make the playoffs each year. Overall, I think he’s done a **** good job at recruiting at the HS level.

Every position group on the team save DB is ahead of when he took over and some like OL, TE and QB are elite units. He’s not done yet this class and where he misses, I expect he’ll fill with portals as needed. Even where he hits I expect he’ll bring in more competition and experience from the portal.

As far as Pickett is concerned, hope he comes he’s a baller. But I also really like the DB group we have so far. His decision alone doesn’t make Mario a good or bad recruiter.

Enjoy the season.
This is all I needed to get me through the day. It brought me the peace and contentment that I needed. Thank you Grover.

arroyo is gone too imo.

Riley williams will be the next starter there
Agreed, I was saying Mason Taylor ain’t being picked before #8

Eli is a top 15 pick man. He’s 6’5” 260 and is about to run a 4.4 with 35+ vert. We heard about it for two years, but he was just a greentree AA until he showed out. He’s a freak (no diddy)

Telling the staff he was committing the night before his deadline and then picking OSU isn’t “stringing along”? Come on bro. It is obvious he told Ohio State, “Oh I told the UM staff I am committing there tomorrow. Clock is ticking. What is your final offer?”
But why is that necessarily obvious? First part definitely occurred. However when you understand how recruiting is now. When you understand the dead period is alive and kicking. When you understand that all it takes is the length of a text message, the time of a phone call for things to abruptly and seriously change... This isn't easy on children my brother. To be 16,17,18 & have EVERYONE after you and telling you anything is difficult to process. To be pulled in so many directions it's difficult. You either gotta be really strong minded or have a great support system in place. Preferably both. But why couldn't he have told us exactly what he told us all year. Have told us the night before he was committing and then got a phone call that threw an aggressive number out there he didn't feel he could walk away from? It's not like something beyond money didn't also appeal to him at Ohio State. Reality is kids don't owe us anything and we just gotta buckle up

Thats why he faked signed his paperwork, hoping Miami would match or beat the offer as well as confirm the ridiculous number he got from OSU.
If he is happy there then great for him. He also had a chance to play college ball near home and with most of his childhood friends and still get good NIL. I think he could regret not doing the latter when he is older as he would shine at either place and be a potential first round pick at either school.
As good as he is, there will be other WRs the next few years we have a shot at that will be in the same category as him. We have to start early on them, continue to show that in the next few years we can score big regardless of the QB, otherwise it will just be said that we had a great year because of Ward and nothing else.

From the LSU ON3 board this morning:

- more than 75% of LSU’s class has had new NIL deals thrown their way from teams, and most of that news isn’t public given the Tigers locked in and got it done. So, there have been wins both public with commits shutting it down, but also behind closed doors.

As for Pickett, LSU has had daily talks with his representation, including an extended talk on Tuesday, multiple sources tell The Bengal Tiger staff. What I do know is that even with a big NIL package already out there, the Tigers have upped it over time, sources confirmed. And after the loss of Underwood, LSU is fully aware that holding on to Pickett is a massive priority. He’s got their full attention this next week…

*** Michigan was reportedly jumping in the mix, and we know Oregon was a major player here, and there’s buzz around Florida trying to take a final swing, but in my opinion, the biggest threat would still be Miami when talking which program has the best chance at a flip. We’ve said it all along, but Miami was going to be the team to watch until the final hours given they are in-state, he’s visited the Hurricanes plenty and he’s got a cousin on roster. All that was also true when he committed to LSU this summer, and has remained the case the entire fall as he stayed committed to the Tigers. Don’t be shocked if a final visit to Miami happens, whether public or not, before the dead period kicks in on Monday. The Hurricanes have pressed hard and continue to do so, and getting him down there one more time has been something they have pushed hard for, sources close to both LSU and Miami tell me.

- Pickett and his family will head to LSU on Friday and stay until Sunday. He will be there for the Oklahoma game on Saturday night, but more importantly, he is in Baton Rouge the final three days before the NCAA’s Dead Period begins and the Early Signing Period arrives next Wednesday. I’m told both LSU and Miami fully expect Pickett to be at LSU this weekend, so him following through on that visit will be huge. It would give them the final visit, and you would hope that a few days out from signing, things can get to a spot where it’s done and LSU is just waiting on Wednesday for him to sign.

*** For those curious, I am told my multiple sources that LSU and Miami have presented similar NIL packages to Pickett as of this week. Miami has a huge NIL backing, but LSU’s not in a spot right now where the only hope hinges on Pickett choosing the school he wants to be at and follow through on his commitment – a decision largely driven by what he said Corey Raymond can do to develop him and how he fits in with the Tigers and culture in Baton Rouge. As of Tuesday afternoon, both teams are in similar spots on the NIL front, per sources separate from both LSU and Miami, but with knowledge of the recruitment.

-Can LSU get Pickett across the most important finish line? That’s to be determined, but the good news is there’s a week to go, he heads to LSU for three days before the dead period begins, and he’s going to not only be surrounded by double-digit commits this weekend, but also will get to see Patrick Peterson again. Peterson will be in town this weekend, and if you remember, he was in town for Pickett’s official visit prior to him committing to the Tigers. The pair of Florida natives have grown close, as have their parents. Once more, LSU is ready to roll out a final red carpet to keep Pickett locked in. If he indeed arrives on Friday as expected, that will say a lot about how this could ultimately wrap up – in a good way – for LSU. Again, he’s still committed, he’s active in chatting with the LSU commits behind the scenes and on social media, he has daily chats with Raymond and his family has been upfront the whole time on visits and more. Now it’s about the finish, and from talking with tons of sources, even without the NIL backing of some other schools, LSU is still viewed as the team expected to sign the 5-star+ cornerback prospect. But, the Tigers know the Miami surge (and push from others) is there and will continue, and it’s one they seem to be countering each day. With a week to go, this will be over soon regardless of which school he signs with, but I think this weekend’s LSU visit can’t be overstated given it’s coming right before the dead period arrives. I do firmly believe Pickett wants to be at LSU, and this weekend gives them ample time to lock everything in with face-to-face conversations and time spent together on campus

So now we in here talking about Lashlee? Alright

Good coach. Gonna get mauled in the playoffs. Does a lot with a little bit but limited on where they can go and yes I’m well aware of SMUs money
What playoffs we’re going to run down their throat . I don’t see two acc teams making it
