**** didn’t want to see Chris Johnson jr…

To the CJJ fan club, what did you guys SEE ON THE FIELD that is causing you all to get up in your feels as the youngins say? All I saw was a fast guy in a football uniform. While I get that there is value in that, there's also a lot more to football than just speed.

I have a feeling this is just another example of some CiS folk feeling like a player was a lot better than he really was.
RB is least of my worries right now.

Next year would be the 4th or 5th option at rb with all of his elite speed. I get it. Good move for him.

Overall disappointed in the limited action we saw him. No feel for the game with the rock in his hands. While he had some success on the orbits, still very underwhelming.

He was hyped as a Jeff Demps/Chris Rainey but he was none of those. Timid on Kickoff and zero wiggle.

Regardless of CJ24, it is starting to become a trend on this staffs inability to get the most out of players I would label as Athletes. Curious to see how the Washington brothers turn out.

It’s not getting up in any feels. The guy has speed and I expected him to be used as a decoy and in space. There was a need for that this season in my opinion. Also, would have liked to see him develop. I agree that we have better backs including Pringle. We don’t have the speed I’d like to stretch defenses and he has that if used correctly.

This is a major bummer. He could have been lethal on simple counter sweeps or toss sweeps (with our TEs blocking at every level out of a trips set) & other run plays designed to give him a pre-determined lane to run through (where limited reading is required by the RB). Can’t routinely let our fastest players go to other spots & shine.

As is the case. Let’s see how the next stop plays out. Brashard and Elijah Roberts were losses. Brinson was not. Every situation is different.

I do agree Dawson lacks creativity when it comes to utilizing unique talent

The 2nd sentence is why i dont really think Brashard was a loss for us. Just a dude that was put in a position to succeed at SMU. But he wasn't going to be taking carries from Martinez or Harris.

Thanks for replying. If we ever ran a screen or a draw, I would be more inclined to agree with you. I would've liked to see him develop too, but I think he never really had a shot to get past Fletcher and Lyle. Add Pringle and I get it.

I’m a little worried about our track record with guys who don’t fit the “scheme” CJJ will likely be a brashard smith for someone. It’s crazy to me what SMU is doing with guys we said no thanks to. Imagine we had Roberts on the line
We don’t have great speed on the offense and even if we did I’m not sure we’d know how to use them in space. Brashard was a total waste . And I said that when he was here.

Bye Forrest, good luck to you. Big things ahead.

This means there's more cap space to rebuild a better roster. He can be better football player and prove himself somewhere else, but we have 2 guys and possibly a 3rd on the way that are better at playing RB.

We had the top offense in CFB and he contributed nothing; wish him well but, respectfully, he wont be missed.

Yeah I'm not sure why we stopped putting him on the field for a few plays a game, especially considering how much difficulty we had pushing the ball down the field through the air.

He probably wasn't going to get lined up M2M with a LBer (Guidry only coaches our team, folks), but getting a safety way out wide probably something Dawson could have created some magic with for the other guys.

Worrisome my brother, worrisome. And I couldn’t agree more. It’s weird because we had the best offense in the country but we also severely under utilized CJJ. He might have been bad in pass protection or had a bad attitude, I don’t know. But a talent like that cannot be neglected. I bet we see much more bro ball next year

We never or in this case didn't try any schemes to take advantage of his talent. We had the #1 offense so this is yet another example of underutilization that gets glossed over. I like Dawson but he didn't demonstrate a lot of creativity to get "playmakers" the ball (wheel routes, jet sweeps, etc.) and we could have definitely used CJJ.

i'm torn. i don't know who ****ed me off more: a) 24 taking the kickoff from the one yard line and forest gumping it straight into the first tackler at the 17 yard line; or b) 35 with the dopey jersey failing to fair catch and the ball being downed at the 5. close call. for me its a push
