Depth Chart from TOS

i'm sort of concerned about our LBs in passing situations. in some of the camp clips the school has put on youtube you can see owens getting burned a few times. i wouldn't mind seeing us put three safeties on the field in nickel situations with just denzel.

Grace is our best cover LBer. He will be on the field in 3rd down passing situations.

It is a concern. That's been our weakness. Our underneath coverage has been horrific.

Much less of a concern when Grace is out there.

He was our best cover LB when he was a junior in high school. It's going to be impossible to keep him off the field. I think he can play multiple spots on the field too because he has such a knack for the position. His speed and awareness make up for his lack of prototype size, and has been pointed out by me before, but he is actually really strong in the weight room, so strength isn't a concern.

He is just destined for big things this year.

No doubt pass coverage will improve when he's on the field. How much remains to be seen.

Grace is a stud. Covers like a DB, hits like a true linebacker, instinctive, runs a legit 4.4

Staff gonna have a hard time getting him off the field.

And as someone mentioned. Size be damned he is strong as **** too.

- The development of Courtel Jenkins is very encouraging.

- Fentress comin

-What happened to Thurston?

Have you ever watched Armbrister? Nothing happened expect better players taking his playing time. It's only in the teams best interest.

When has the staff done anyting in the best interest of the team? Corn is not better than Howard, my guess Quan is not the impact player Chad is either. Is Owens better than Grace? Is Gunter better than Burns or Corn is another real ? The best players need to be on the filed not the other way around

Staff still playing ****en games nothing has changed i see. Hopefully they change them 500 games that teams continue to put on us.

If it were up to me. I would have moved Kirby over to strongside and have Grace start on weak side and Denzel in middle.

Instead. Staff has Kirby sticking at weak side.

So, give me Owens on strongside and Grace on weak side.

I like Grace game way more than Kirby. No offense to Kirby, but Grace has some old school cane linebacker speed and instincts that I love. Even though I do think Kirby can be a good one. Grace has things you can't teach.

He squats over 450 and while his max bench isn't crazy he repped 225x17. That's plenty strong for a kid that's long and lean.

We shall see how he does in every down situations. He is a no brainer on third down, but it remains to be seen how he is able to shed blockers on running plays. No doubting the kid's skills, but it may still be early for him. Grace will be a problem when he gets another year in the weight room under his belt.

Not doubting you...but if the above is true why the **** isn't he starting?

That linebacking corp scares the **** out of me.

Based on what I saw, that depth chart looks pretty legit. Would have expected Grace over Kirby but everything else makes sense. Jenkins has been hands-down the second best NT in camp.

Same here. When I saw camp continue to progress and no move for Kirby to strong side and Grace making play after play. I see writing on the wall my man. If Grace doesn't get start opening day, he's gonna get it soon. Grace is legit. And I want Owens to start bad, think he has the speed, size and athleticism we want out there. Would love to have Denzel, Owens and Grace on field.

Howard will be starting Labor Day obviously, but Corn and Artie gonna get serious burn.

Jenkins seems like he is very promising early on. Especially passing up Moore and Wyche.

which wide receiver "starts" is completely meaningless anyway. as a percentage of snaps played waters was probably our second most used WR last year.

I consider Waters co-starter with Dorsett. Gonna be same as last year, Dorsett might be getting the nod due to being a downfield threat every down, but I expect Waters to be second behind Coley in overall statistics at receiver with Dorsett and Lewis very close in 3rd or 4th and an emerging Berrios.

Dorsett will have highest average yard per reception, 2nd or 3rd in yards.

Coley most TD's and yards, 1st or 2nd in catches.

Waters second in TDs and either 2nd or 3rd in yards.

Lewis, most yac, 1st or 2nd in catches.

Coley and Waters bring versatility too. Dorsett strictly an outside receiver. Coley and Waters play outside and slot. And Malcolm getting the nod starting, because he is a true slot.

Regardless, I said way back and I'll say again. Main 4 rotation between Coley, Dorsett, Waters and Lewis. Coley and Lewis starters, Dorsett and Waters co-starters.

Dorsett gonna be used situationally, same thing last year before he went down.

Berrios to work his way in early and make a 5 man rotation then Brady making his way into some time late season.

Corn is not better than Howard, I agree. When I look at last year's games, Tracy Howard IMO was our best and most consistent player on defense. But the thing is, you never know what's going on behind the scenes. Howard may have a minor injury that's slowed him down for week 1, you never know. Or maybe Corn has been killing it in practice.

As for Quan, I think you're selling him short. That kid is an athletic freak, let's not forget that. I'm excited to see what he looks like after a year in the weight room. Also, you have to think that he and Chad play different positions on the defense and it isn't really about starting one over the other. Really, both could and probably should be on the field at the same time at points during the year.

Is Owens better than Grace? We don't know. I'm a big fan of Grace's game and think he should be starting at Will for us, but you have to think also that Owens and Grace have completely different skillsets and so it's about what personnel package is going to be the best to face a given offense. Owens is probably a better pass rusher and may be more stout against the run, while Grace is quicker, more fluid, and better in coverage. I would imagine that Grace will be in the game the majority of the time when there is an obvious passing situation.

Is Gunter better than Burns? Again we don't know. Burns certainly has more upside and is the better athlete, but if you ask me to look at last year's tape and tell you which of the two was the better cornerback, I'd go with Gunter at the moment. So it really depends on what kind of strides Burns has made in the past few months.

It all comes back to one thing in my mind. We all want 4 and 5 star recruits because the lower ranked kids have a much higher probability of becoming JAG's. But then, some lower ranked kids come out of nowhere and play like 5 stars once they get in to college. Guys like D'Vante Parker, Aaron Donald, Luke Kuechly come to mind. A team made up of mostly 3 stars might have one or two of these guys on their entire roster, if they're lucky.

In that way, I think the staff we have has done a pretty good job, considering, of recognizing talent even when it's not highly ranked. Guys like Gunter, Herb Waters, and Olsen Pierre come to my mind as guys who have outplayed their star ranking since the time they got to Miami.

Corn over howard?

Love owens over armbrister, ***** the upper classmen crap

Everything else seems like the right moves

When you really sit down and think about it, Corn has all the tools to be a better corner than Tracy.

A lot of people do, but that doesn't mean they are better corners. It's not just about having the tools, it's about putting them to work in the right way. How many times did you ever really see Howard get beat or make a horrible play last year?

Watch HowArd tackle and watch him away from the play. Not impressed,
