DE Dylan Stewart is expected to command $1 to $1.5 million on his second-year deal.

Ultimately, yes, but it's refreshing to see that at least our evaluations are on point.
I’d imagine it burns hard seeing how good they play after wanting them so bad

Imagine how Norvell feels about not being able to get Cam Ward

So now you have to worry about not getting kids enough PT and entering the portal on one side of the spectrum, while on the other side, a young player may have an excellent season and demand more than he may really be worth? Oy vey.

And on top of that, you got players wanting to be paid more than assistant coaches that have so much more responsibility than some defense player that plays 40 snaps a game.

Coaches neck is on the line if he’s not recruiting, not developing, not scheming, but there’s never blame on the college kid for not performing because he’s still in college.

Every year is totally different as well, seen so many that were “Freshman All-American” and sophomore year they fall off or get injury bug

So that new money is not for that freshman performance at all, it’s for a bust

You don't think one of the best edge rushers in college football is worth $1-2 million? We gave Lance Guidry a significant raise at the beginning of this year. I'd rather pay for Stewart and have Pitbull coach the defense if it means Stewart comes here.

I would much rather pay a star player 10X what an assistant coach makes. Who gives a **** about responsibility? Sacking the quarterback is exponentially more important than being responsible for special teams.

How much would Cam be worth if he had another year of eligibility?
It should be about $8M. He is the R1P1 of the 2025 NFL Draft, and thats the salary-ish of a R1P1 without the signing bonus...more if you add it in.

I know there are folks that say "OH MAN, THIS IS CRAZY!"

But as I said earlier, Nick Bosa makes $34M. 5 in the NFL make 25M annually or more.

They are the best of the best. Well deserved.

But what is a 19 year old best of the best worth? Not that, no. But...1M seems like very cheap labor to me for what a superfreak can bring to your team.

Whatever we are paying Cam Ward for this season is cheap. I assume he's making more annually than Spencer Rattler (a 4th Round Pick with a Y1 salary of a little under a million)...but this guy is a first round pick...Bo Nix is a 3.3M salary cap hit. Caleb Williams a little over 7M

Cool for the schools while they can. They were getting it for free or mostly free for years...so, like I said...

I like winning...we can pay and win now...legally...and still relatively cheaply. Let's do it. Winning is awesome.

I’m more talking about a OC or a DC

Sacking the QB is not more important than a competent DC that has all the responsibilities to a college team

A star player as in Cam Ward? 10000%

That star player carries a team to actual wins and is program changing good

Cam Ward, Tim Tebow type players are STAR players

Pay him pay him pay him... kids deserve a piece of the pie, it could end in a game anytime. Absolutely agree that a kid gets one free transfer and then they have to sit out if they transfer again.. or graduate and do as you please.

Whose more valuable?

Brian Hartline (Ohio State - OC/WR) — $1,600,000

Or paying a hot shot WR that amount of money like Jeremiah Smith?

Yes, Ohio State is rich enough to do it all

I’m going with Hartline all day every day, 1 WR isn’t going to win every game but Hartline will **** sure bring in 3 top WRs every year and develop them and put them in the NFL

That’s not how capitalism works. What they should’ve done is only allow one transfer and no more or you sit out a year. That stops the bouncing around every year. These dummies could’ve done something that simple but had zero foresight.
This. This exactly.

Free markets tend to be open. Why is there a need to neuter it with caps and salaries. NFL could learn here.

There is close to no connection on how/what college players make and what NFL players get paid.

Fire Dog blitz is his go-to

But if a DE is going for that sum, what’s a top-flight QB that touches ball on every play?
