DC Candidates

1. Tim Banks (reportedly turned us down according to nakos from on3) - likely will end up at clemson
2. Tyler Santucci from GT was listed as a potential person to keep an eye on by some beat writers

Aaron henry has been mentioned on the boards, haven't seen anywhere else thankfully as he would be a nightmare

then... zilch
grain of salt with it being ferman, but from this past weekend:

People mentioning JT as DC are either Gator fans or must have some other political agenda. There is simply no way in **** this guy gets the role for too many reasons to be mentioned here. If he does get the job the Meathead should never be allowed to corch another game.
Also feel if Mario was seriously considering it he would have pulled the plug on Guirdy before the bowl game and let JT call the defense as part of his interview for the job. Not like Guidry was coaching for his job in that game. He was gone regardless.

No way in ****. He was in the room with Guidry and directly linked to ****** DE play.

Woke literally means that someone is informed, educated and conscious of social injustice and racial inequality. But certain news outlets and political faces use it as a negative narrative for progressives political movements.

“Stay woke” isn’t a new term. But I’m off my soap box back to football.

Mickens would be a great hire. Tremendous at all facets of recruiting and coaching. Very tough to get him here and some risk because he’s never been a DC.

Questions since I’m stupid and 59 pages is a lot to read.

1) what about someone like a Deshea Townsend? Lions have had half their defense gone this year it seems and his secondary seems to perform well considering all the injuries. I don’t think he has called plays though and if Glenn gets a HC job Deshea might be in for a promotion making this moot.

2) would someone like Travis Williams take the job since Pittman’s time seems to be limited? Or is that a terrible hire?

3) what is Strouds role in all of this? Seems like he is a wealth of knowledge that could help but isn’t he sick?

Aaron Henry has spent like 90% of his coaching and playing career under Bielema. Although he is from Florida so maybe he wants to come home. Any word on how he is as a recruiter?

This isnt directed at you, I’m piggybacking your post.

I’ll be ******* irate if Aaron Henry is the hire.

All this talk about “making a splash” and “adult in the room” for a guy that’s been a DC for 2 years at a mid P4 school.

If Mario was serious he’d hire a top notch DC ANNND hire Henry as the DB coach. Dude makes $725k a year. Pay him $1mm and get the DB room back on track

I have the same thoughts, but I also think there is no way Ferman puts this out there if he was the guy. Feels like your typical smokescreen leak.

He's in the top 3 best CB's Coaches & evaluators in College Football.

The only thing is, he's never been a DC & never called plays.

I wouldn't be against it, but it would be a hard sell to this fanbase given his inexperience as a DC.

But he's absolutely a phenomenal DB Coach.
I am not comparing the two, but Nick Saban started as a db coach. It’s not insane to take a risk on a great football mind. Especially a db coach when we just spent a boatload on DBs.

Fran Brown, also was a revered db coach. I doubt it will be him. But I can see a logic chain that made sense

So, the rumors of a great DC with tons of experience are going to morph into whoever turns out to be our Plan F.

Well, at least there are rumors of us getting a great QB.
No one knows anything. The only thing we’ve had clarity on is Banks. That fell through because Mario is stubborn. Don’t know if he was a stud or a dud. UTK is happy to see him go but they are also delusional

So let me make sure I understand…You’re saying offer a current DC (Henry) a DB position w/a raise and then bring in another person as DC for the current DC (Henry) to work under?

Agreed. Taylors line underwhelmed this year. I get the disconnect w/Guidry and that is prolly part of the reason, but results on the field still matter. He appears to be a good recruiter - could prolly replace DSmith with him and improve relations with recruits and their parents across the board! lol

from @Cribby report, there seems to have been a gulf of disconnect/disagreement and animosity between what the DC wanted for the DL and what the DL coach wanted for the DL, which could explain how poorly the DL played. i, therefore, do not blame the DL coach for the DL's woes this year.

I'm totally bummed about Banks - we didn't get him, it sounds like he went to one of our rivals and the reason he didn't accept the role is very concerning regarding Mario.

Holy frick! Here we go again! Another Cane HC who's going to allow his lack of willingness to give up control on the D to another Alpha for...whatever reasons.

If he's going this route, then either give the keys to Ed O or Fitz and start working towards improving the D. I'm an eternal optimist, but I gotta say - this is concerning from a big picture perspective. Oh well... Go Canes....

Ed Orgeron is not getting back into coaching. he was paid +/- $25MM a few years ago, he's plowing a 9+ MILF and is enjoying globe trotting.
