Then you let him Free Willy. A new DC, especially a well regarded one, should be able to make any staff changes on defense he wants. Otherwise you get a mishmash of staff that aren’t on the same page.

Here’s something to consider that I don’t think has been discussed regarding letting go of position coaches on the defensive side of the ball. These kids love JT and playing for and learning from a HoFer. They love DNich. They love Big Joe. Recruiting is about relationships, right? If they let these guys go, I think Mario knows he might lose some high caliber prospects with them.

We've literally had an offensive staff and a defensive staff in two of three years that couldn’t stand each other. How you hire people that don’t align at all schematically then expect it to work is beyond me. The Qb coach and OC in 22 ghosted each other and couldn’ t stand each other. In 24 it was the DC and DL coach not jiving. You don’t have to be friends but you have to align in what you’re coaching / teaching. If not you end up with two horrible situations in a short period.
