DC Candidates

Appreciate the sarcasm. Malzahn did the exact move I’m talking about and UCF has been a far better program than Rutgers in the last 5 years. Maybe Schiano is happy where he’s at? But if he wants a potential for a big job, being a highly successful coordinator at a top program is the move currently. What better place to show your defensive genius than our crap storm of a defensive situation and he’s got a great relationship with Mario.
I appreciate the optimism, but there isn't a DC in the country making even $2.5 million and Schiano is set to make $6.5 next year. Schiano could be the most unhappy man in America and he still wouldn't take that pay cut.

These expectations are wild. I think 7 would be disappointing and certainly want to win the ACC and play in the playoff. But if we go 9-3 or even 8-4 with a Top 10 recruiting class next season and you still want to fire him, you might as well just wait for the day Urban Meyer coaches here because you'll never be satisfied.

So we expected 10 wins from a first time head coach with no resources but 8 from a veteran head coach making strong salary and exponentially more resources?

Lane wins 9/10 at Ole Miss in the SEC, Fran Brown just won at Syracuse. Manny 9 at Duke. Lashlee 10 at SMU. Bielema at Illinois.

Why do we lower the bar for Mario?

It’s ******* ridiculous.

This is a reasonable variable that I may have overlooked. I was not aware that he was going to make that much at Rutgers. I wouldn’t leave either 🤣🤣.

7 is too low. 10 wins. I think the Manny debates have gone on long enough really - he did not get us where we wanted - he got fired. Some of the points currently being made are the comparison of what got one fired vs another - which is fine. If after 4 seasons, Mario does not win the ACC or get us in the playoff, then get him out of here.

7 wins in Year 4 should not be hot seat level, but get the **** out of my face level for the pay and resources.
Yup, you could make that argument. Reasonable.

Only reason Im iffy about of “win ACC or make playoffs” is due to so much **** that’s not UM.

- what if there’s 3 top 10 teams on our schedule?
- What if Miami plays 6 ranked teams and wins 9?

Not to mention CFP voters doing whatever the **** they want. We deserved playoffs this year, yes we folded last game. Still had best resume.

Yeah let’s hire an awesome up and comer like Austin Armstrong or Marshalls DC from a few years ago!!!

Muschamp or Fitzgerald would be home runs.
Big names are great, like the Michigan OC who won the Broyles for best coordinator in football!

Big names make a splash and provide hope, it still needs to be the right fit. Mario learned that the hard way with Gattis and Steele year 1.

Is this thread a retirement home for the most cognitively impaired members of football society?

Greg Schiano?
Pat Fitzgerald?
Mel Tucker?
Jason Taylor?
Coach FRIGGIN O?!

Did you guys fall asleep with the TV on 9 years ago and wake up literally yesterday? None of those guys are coordinators, most haven’t been relevant for 5+ years, half of them DONT EVEN COACH COLLEGE FOOTBALL ANYMORE.

If your criteria is “He Gotta Look Kinda Like Wario from Behind” + “I Can Tell My Beer Butt Buddies Some Facts About His Past”, give your mom your phone, pour another bowl of Fruity Loops (a clean one), and lock yourself in the Transfer Portal forum until March.
They could pair them up with fsu o cord hire . Washed up coaches the game has passed them .

We should be the most talented team in the ACC off of recruiting rankings, right? So does that mean the UF team we pounded this year, improved and surpassed us? A Notre Dame team we always say is cheeks will be better than us, on our home field, with Al Golden as DC and also breaking in a new QB?

Clemson who we repeatedly leave for dead?
FSU who is coming off of 2 wins?
SMU with Lashlee who we say has our washouts and we should have taken their spot in the playoffs?

On3 throwing Tim Banks (TN) name into the conversation. His contract ends January 31st. Fans are still ****ed about Ohio State end to the season and talk of going conservative on defense in big games...
