Manny had average type classes until the last one. He had the same record as Mario with way less resources. Neither is my idea of a good head coach. some people killing Manny from the early days are excusing Mario.

I think the difference is most (like myself) who like Mario don’t look at the record like that because Manny left the worst roster in UM history to Rio. We knew it would take 2/3 years before we saw results.

Meanwhile Manny’s defenses let up 60+ with players he recruited and had been involved with for 3 years before becoming HC.

Serious question, if Manny doesn’t get fired in 2021, and coaches in 2022 how many games you think he wins without Lashlee? Tops 6
 
@RVACane and in the reverse fashion, I think Richt’s W/L is overhyped because Golden left a great core. It’s all about leaving the roster better than what it was when you got here, and no coach has done that since Butch. At least with Mario there’s hope.

I don’t know. It depends who he hires. I don’t think Manny is good. I think both are subpar though I think I would take game coach manny over game coach Mario.

Al golden was a good identifier of talent. Far better than Manny and Mario.

Didn't the team win like 5 of 6 of the final games with a close loss (or in Mario World an almost win) to FSU in there? Regressing is what happened at the end of the season this year.

I would hope he had someone in mind about mid season 😂 already been talking to him waiting for bowl season to be over
 
He’s not my first pick and I get the initial response is “why would he do that?” But I wouldn’t mind Greg Schiano here as DC. Head Coach with decent success at a middle of the road program. Mario’s mentor. If he really wants a big job, the trend the last few years is a top coordinator from a top program having success (Broyles type) versus a head coach at a meddling D1 program.

I know he’s hated to death on this board for some reason, but as a DC with head coaching experience that could tell Mario “hey I want to spend money in this area” and Mario would actually listen, he’s a resume (maybe not a name) that makes sense.

Again, not my first choice. In a perfect world, I’d rather a young successful candidate that is hungry and going to turn this defense in to a juggernaut. We’ll see which way the wind blows.

That would be too reasonable for our program, but I hope you’re right. Too often, we’ve stumbled onto success, rather than having planned/built for it. As a layman, it worries me.

Edit: Except for Schnelly and Butch periods.

Why not shoot for Dan Lanning? I think he’d be better.
