Leavitt would be a bad ***. But he might be waiting for a HC gig. He'll bide his time for a bit until people forget about the beatdown he hung on that player.

I've been impressed with Don Brown's work at BC with terrible talent. He was good at UConn too.

Yeah, I think I read an article on Leavitt somewhere where he said his next college gig will be as a HC.
He built a program from scratch, I think his ego may not allow him to be a college assistant, unless it is the
only job he can land.
Don Brown would make things interesting at the UM.
Dude was highly-regarded by Friedgen at Maryland, and he loves to bring blitzes from everywhere.

My favorite part about potential coaching changes is MedleyCane's contributions.

******* guy knows every badass assistant from coast to coast.

Some may call it a sickness, but I love it.

Yup.

Little known fact: Medley coached my great grandfather in 145 pound Optimist ball before getting drafted...

...into the Spanish American War. :)

Definitely a sickness.
I need to get a life.
LOL.
Thanks for the kind words.
I also enjoy reading everyone else's contributions on this site.

He played for the Hialeah Optimist 145s? :)

Agreed. I wonder if we would be willing to take him since he might be a bit too much of a PR risk for the squeamish.

He should see an opportunity to get back in the game at a place stocked with talent for the future and a head coach starting to squirm.

I'd take him in a heartbeat. Football's a tough game. If he had to beat a player once or twice that's fine with me.

Although neither would happen, Butch or Ed O would be my choices.

No to Butch.

Has Ed O ever called a defense, I know he was HC but I don't think he ever was the DC.

No, he has never, ever been a coordinator. He rose to where he's been because of his recruiting. He's never called a defense.

This is a FACEPALM idea. And it's the 2nd time I've heard it. Fans. Smh.

We wouldn't be sitting back taking rapes with Don Brown like we are now. He will fight back and get after you.

I could think of a few on our team that need a good beating. Just saying, that would get me in line too.

One thing that I've always liked about Leavitt was his ability to find very good assistant coaches.
His list of former assistants who worked for him is like a Who's who.
Smart football guy, that is often overlooked because of his personality.

Similarly, a coach like Randy Edsall has many former coaches working in college and NFL.
For example, the Fordham and Towson HCs, who are doing nice work at those schools, the VT DB
coach (Torrian Gray) and so on.

If the qualification of being a DC is you had to be one before, then you maybe overlooking many good potential candidates.

If you read what I wrote, you would see I stated "would never happen"

Our weakness on D is the DL and LB. Our DB coaching is pretty good. If you look, Ed O is pretty refined there. DL

So go ahead, shoot some more holes in the qualification, face palm, I get it; however, be able to back up your logic with facts next time.

How about fire D'ONO now and put Mike Barrow in charge for the rest of the season...who knows, maybe he's a genius??? Don't think so but he's already here and we can't be worse and if we are - who cares?

Lance Thompson at Alabama (has already been detailed)

Manny Diaz- has plenty of experience, was sucessfull everywhere (except texas). is from Miami and should be a good recruiter here. would be a philosophy change on defense. money may also be an issue here if other schools come looking

Travaris Robinson Secondary coach at Florida. has never been a coordinator so there would be a risk there. Florida runs a 4-3 under look like we do so he could keep Golden's philosophy while hopefully bringing some better results. Miami is his hometown and we know as a recruiter he would bring in the horses to be dominant even if he doesn't call great plays

Jim Fleming DC UCF- has been at UCF since 2011, been a DC 3x has plenty of experience, has also coached LB and Secondary. he's from the NY and Golden apparently likes those Northeasterners, they may even know each other. not sure how much of a plus he would be as a recruiter

Mike London UVA head coach-if he gets fired, was DL coach under Golden when Golden was DC at UVA, was also recruiting coordinator.

Uncle Luke-becuz he can't do any worse than Dorito
