how about al harris? south florida guy, long career in the league, must be learning a ton as DB coach for the chiefs this year.

is he gonna pause his coaching career to watch his son play for south carolina or stay in the NFL so he has his saturdays free?

Although neither would happen, Butch or Ed O would be my choices.

Any...ANYoNE that has worked in some capacity alongside rex ryan...i dnt care if its the guy that goes on candy runs, that is the defense we want. It is the exact opposite of what we run now in terms of identity, but still incorporates 3-4, 4-3. Not to mention you can guarantee it would be a guy with balls.

Consider this. Randy was able to bring in some solid coaches and he didn't exactly have a network of supporters out there.

Golden seems to have an impressive tree of supporters. I think he could easily find a top notch DC for this job.

Brick Haley
LSU D Line Coach
He has prior D Coord Experience

Lance Thompson
Alabama's OLB Coach....and probably their best recruiter

If you're gonna talk replacement coaches you should also talk money. Dorito is stealing $500K a year from UM. That's very middle of the pack for D coordinators. The elite guys are in the $700 - $950K range with a few making $1mm a year. I think we need to find another $200K or so per year to get into the range we need to be in to hire AND KEEP a good coordinator.

BTW - Please put me in the category that would LOVE to see Jim Leavitt as our DC. I think he and Al "could" gel nicely. Similar spirits. Leavitt is a high energy guy who is also always selling his program. That would be a great hire IMO.

Leavitt would be a bad ***. But he might be waiting for a HC gig. He'll bide his time for a bit until people forget about the beatdown he hung on that player.

I've been impressed with Don Brown's work at BC with terrible talent. He was good at UConn too.

No names from me but there must be a **** load of good NFL defensive position coaches that are ready to take a job as college DC. The AD and Golden just have to do some homework and find their Jedd Fisch for the defensive side of the ball.

What scheme are they running in Cincinnati?

Narduzzi is going to be a Head Coach somewhere.

Agreed. I wonder if we would be willing to take him since he might be a bit too much of a PR risk for the squeamish.

He should see an opportunity to get back in the game at a place stocked with talent for the future and a head coach starting to squirm.
