DC Candidates(post 2024 season)

Dawson was handed a ferrari and did what he was supposed to do. Delivered #1 offense. I dont think he's remotely close to elite but you cant argue with being #1. So prefer he'd stay for continuity sake and help get best QB in portal but if he goes, i wont really care.

I want to take some time here because Mario has to get this one right. Steele was not a good fit, and even though I don’t think this is entirely on Guidry, he’ll ultimately be the culprit.

Nonetheless, it sounds like your third DC in four years, and not because of success. Again, he has to get this hire right.

Plus, there’s rumors him and the defensive staff don’t get along. Specifically JT.

So, I expect multiple coaches on the defense to leave.

There’s also a possibility JT is promoted, which I’m not sure I’d love. If we put our money where our mouth is, we should be poaching, not reaching.

Im not a mope...more a cautionary optimist or borderline realist.

With that said, I'm not sure if trust mario to make a good hire on D. His last two hires have been super questionable.

Additionally, controlling position coaches and not letting the coordinator make his own calls is concerning.

Mario doesn't deserve to be fired, but we also know we will never win anything important with him.

Is this what I purgatory feels like?

They have to shore up that sorry excuse of a defense.no team should HAVE to put up 40 in order to win. No more trash from the portal on defense.

Guidry was a bet that went sideways. He had good tape and results. Same with Steele, both just crashed out here.

We really need to poach a DC from a good SEC or B1G program

A better defense and we are undefeated. Cam is great but he has put us in some tough sports too. do we forget about some of his horrible INT's? or him missing wide open guys because he wanted to run around in the backfield?
 
I don’t know if the coordinator stuff is going to change anytime soon. We SHOULD get rid of Guidry, but if we do, that’s 3 DCO coaches in 4 years. What top tier coach is going to come for that?

We also need to reexamine our salary allocation asap. Only OJ would play for other P2 teams (and he prolly wouldn’t have played as much as he did for us).

We don’t have P2 DT either outside some splash plays. Hopefully Scott turns out to be elite, but we need some P2-level DTs.
