You have to pay the man to keep the man....

^ AG is intense when he steps on that field

More and more I'm starting to see Pete Carroll, with a bit of Jimmy mixed in. He's a lot like Pete with his looseness and program building, but he's got something that I don't know that Pete has always had, and that's the ability to needle the players and still keep the pressure on so that they know that the spotlight is always on them.

He's the happy medium between Pete and Saban.

God I hope he stays forever.

Golden said he wanted a bigger, more physical team. They definitely look the part. Can't wait to see when they start making contact with bad intentions.
As for Golden, the ABC changes now to Always Be Coaching. Love what he brings to the table.

Yikes

you want Golden to stay forever, but what has he proven so far?

-that he can develop talent(Bush, Jenkins, Streeter, Jacory, Howard....), something that previous staff couldn't do

-that he can embrace our Alumni, something the previous staff couldn't do

-that he can recruit well even with looming NCAA sanctions for almost 3years now, something the previous staff couldnt do even without the NCAA issues

-lead a very young team to win the Coastal in the ACC, something the previous staff couldn't do

-MOST IMPORTANTLY, that he can stay loyal and keep his word to these kids, the U and its fans by seeing this through even with schools like Tenn knocking at his door and impatient entitled fans asking "what has he done?"
he's developed guys like Bush, Jenkins, and Howard already?? What about Darius Smith and Mike Williams? Did he develop them?
personally don't care if you embrace alumni or not. how much does a guy like saban embrace alumni?(don't know the answer to this, but it makes u wonder because it doesn't seem like he does).
Yes we won the coastal, but that was like winning the special olympics....you're still a handicap. win this crap in dominating fashion. and since when are we happy with winning a crappy division??
will concede the recruiting to you and will disregard the pot shot.

regards

LULZ at developing Mike Williams.

Mike Williams? He was a 5th year senior who lost his starting job at Wake Forest. Trade him for McGee who was doing nothing.
He won the coastal playing a team full of freshmen.

There is no excuse for having to play that many young kids on defense. You're at such a disadvantage from a physical and mental standpoint, when playing against other teams playing upperclassmen. If the team is not better this year, then I could see the criticism, but there's no way to judge anything about that team last year with so many kids forced to play big roles so early.

Sanctions, can recruit, the AL Golden Camps and Junior Days, the media presentation, won't be out worked, knows how to pick a staff (that others teams and the pros want) and is able to deal with BS. Let's not forget the development of the player. He seems to be a great motivator of men and that is very important for an OC. I never thought last year or the year before would be our year, I don't know what people expected the last 2 seasons either given what he had left (depth), what he had to do (play the freshman) and deal with (NCAA BS and the Media).

He also won the coastal with this crap in year 2 but because of a previous regime & co. had it taken away. We're not that far from winning the ACC outright, we're not that far from being the champion. It is what it is, IMO he is building a program from the ground up because we had little to nothing (in terms of players) to work with.

These are just opinions based on what I have watched. I am no football guru/scientist, I just like what I see and I believe in him.

I don't know why people ask this question because it is either a troll or some anti-Al stuff. Which is fine. The bottom line is Al will either fail and never get us there OR he will continue to build and make steps in the right direction (winning ACC and BCS Champs etc.), I never expected an overnight procedure. I expected 4 years, but that is me.

This right here.
Those that believe in him know that winning is inevitable with Al. To date He's shown nothing less than being an excellent hire.
You can either see his greatness and bet on his future or you can't. Which is fine. Not everyone is a visionary. And those that aren't by the time they see the light have acted to late. Thankfully UM leadership value Golden long term and extended his contract to 2020.

what traits of greatness has he shown, in your opinion?

and UM extended Randy too, so that point is meaningless.

Communication skills, focus, passion, energy, intelligence, loyalty, accountable.
And Randy was begrudgingly given a 4 year extension after a 9 win season heading into his 4th year. Golden was given an 8 year extension heading into his 2nd season after a 6 win season.
Who do you think leadership was more sold on at the point of their extensions?

i'm not trying to compare to Randy because pretty much anyone is better than he was/is.

let me just ask you: what do you need to see from Golden this year? As far as record goes to either solidify your believe that he's great or to change your mind about him?
