Day 4 Spring Practice/ Pro Day Discussion

You guys think Henderson is under-appreciated but how about guys like Linder and Feliciano? Talk about under-appreciated.

Linder is our best lineman and consistently grades out #1 or #2 after every game.
Feliciano was a 3-star "nobody" and has also graded out in the top-3 since he's been in the line-up whether it be at OG or OT. (which isn't even his position)

Those are your two best, most consistent lineman on the squad right there, and they bury people on the regular.

People are just too busy hanging on Henderson's jock cause of his stature and who he was coming out of high school.

Am I the only one who thinks Feliciano is better than Linder?

When I read wildcat comment, first thought that came to mind. Dude could play tackle in a pinch and hold it down, and at guard is a pulling machine.

Ehh...

Feliciano himself will tell you Linder is better.

Since you have access to the OL grades could you post them for each game from last year? It'll make for some great conversation to see who actually grades out highest each game and what their grades were. Thanks, Wildcat.

Can we please stop talking about Saban like he is some genius?

He's been amazing in college. He has a simple scheme and philosophy, in which his team is (probably via PEDs) more physical than their opponent and they play ball control and impose their will. It's not some secret or genius scheme or game planning.

The guy was a disaster in the NFL bc you don't get to have an S and C advantage in the league, which is his entire advantage in college.

At MSU his mediocrity was due to not having access to top 5 classes yearly, and players who aren't paid salaries to be able to afford designer PEDs.

Saban can't hold Jimmy's jock, who was a gigantic success on BOTH levels. Great college coach? Yes. Hall of Fame college coach. But not some genius, and not even on Jim Harbaughs level.

Do you think PEDs are everywhere in the college game and Alabama just uses them better or that Alabama is juicier than the rest?

I disagree with that, He is single handily changing college football. Just look at how defenses in the SEC (and now the ACC) are being run. And know how staff's are being set up. To pull off what he has done in the last 5 or 6 years (with only 85 scholarships is pretty genius)...and I can't stand the guy.

I'll diagree as well. Saban has an emphasis on Offensive and Defensive lines which is why he wins football games. Same with other SEC teams. Guys always talking SEC SEC well most of the players that make it big in the league are NOT from the SEC. The ACC, PAC-12, B1G and the BIG 12 have wayyyy more star power that the SEC, as far as pro's are concerned. I think A lot of times the SEC players are overhyped. When a team Is very good it's hard to tell which players really aren't that good so then everyone gets graded highly on the team. "Oh the CB is locking down receivers"...NO! That's not happening what is happening is the dline is forcing pressure forcing the QB to throw a incompletion or a pick. IDC how good you are of a corner if the QB has time to throw he will rip you apart. Ask Darelle Revis. Ask Dee Milliner against A&M. Without a good Dline those "superstar" linebackers would have guards getting to them and putting them on their backs. Without a good Oline a RB can't do ANYTHING. The only exception to that rule is Barry Sanders. With a Good OL ANY RB in this country can go for 1000+yards. Saban builds the lines first and he's a smart man because that's how you mask your deficienies.

SEC players finish their careers at a higher peak in their game than players from other conferences...especially on the lines. Playing field levels out when they get to the pros and receive pro coaching and you see players from the ACC, Pac12, and Big XII have better pro careers than a ton of really good SEC players. It is why you have, of all schools, Miami, have players just as good, if not better than Alabama players in the pros despite the college results being at two different ends of the spectrum.

Yeah I don't agree with you either. Do you believe Bama is the only school in the country using PEDs? If not, a lot of your argument goes out the window. For the record, I think it's widespread. To further that, it's not like Bama is pumping out combine freaks all across the board every year. Do they perform solidly? Sure but not overly impressive. Saban is a **** good coach. He did well at LSU, as well and there are many reasons for it. Let's not discredit the guy bc we don't like or disagree with his practices

I don't have them listed, I just get updates after every game. I can tell you that last season Linder and Feliciano were among the top-3 scoring linemen after every game. Flowers found himself in the top-3 a couple times as well if I remember correctly. Horn used to finish in the top-3 alot as well when he was playing center.

True enough. But It still amazes me that the oh so holy SEC can't have guy's just dominating the league like college...lol. A lot of them guys average. When you look at the star's of each team...how many of the boys from the SEC.

To the guy talking about PED's what university doesn't do that? EVERY college gives kids improper benefits. EVERY college does the same things it's a matter of who gets caught. Just like life. You mean to tell me that certain CEO's are perfect? and never had a little assistance or had to cheat to get to where they are today? yeah right. As much as we wish it was a perfect world it's not. As much as the store owner want's to stay legit when the thugs come in and say "You're gonna front us 10% or die." That 10% of revenue from every store in the neighborhood adds up to be quite a substantial income. The same rules apply with CFB. It's always cheaters in coaching, workplace or whatever. Folks with no morals who chase the easy route. As they say it's not a matter of right and wrong in this life. It's a matter of who didn't get caught. Bama does exactly that....Not getting caught.

The SEC has their fair share of good players, too...there are plenty of stars from the SEC around the league at every position.

you want Golden to stay forever, but what has he proven so far?

I just like what I see and I believe in him.

This right here.
Those that believe in him know that winning is inevitable with Al. To date He's shown nothing less than being an excellent hire.
You can either see his greatness and bet on his future or you can't. Which is fine. Not everyone is a visionary. And those that aren't by the time they see the light have acted to late. Thankfully UM leadership value Golden long term and extended his contract to 2020.

:ibisroflmao:

We are all witnesses to the greatness that is Al Golden.
