Dawson sucks too

It is easy to say we had the number #1 offense in the country.
Obviously we did. There were so many bad calls that didn’t matter because Cam, X or Martinez would bail out the second and long. We should have been able to control the field on Cuse. They should never have been in position to score that many points when we had a 21 point cushion.

Dawson did just enough to get out of the way most games. He knows the game based upon the first drives. Much of the other success was despite him not due to his play calling.

Defense was much worse but Dawson absolutely should not get a pass. Name one game that you can say we were so lucky we had Dawson. How many were Cam bailed us out.

This should have been a historic offense. It was excellent.
Great players across the board. But there are 50 OC that could have done just as well. And at least 30 that would have done better.

Fire Dawson. If not next year we will regret it.

It is easy to say we had the top Offense in the country bc .... we had the top O in the country
- 50 other places we need to fix before firing Dawson

He got on my ******* nerves not running the ball in the redzone bruh just run the ball they can’t stop you why the **** are you passing on 1st and goal man from the 5 then why on 3rd and 4 do you run a screen to strepo man **** that run the ball and am I the only one who gets scared when Fletcher has the ball now I swear i think he’s gonna fumble.
The screen was a good call. They had like 7-8 guys on the line of scrimmage. We weren't running for 4+ yards there Just a crazy unfortunate result

It's amazing how people on this board live for losses, so they can pull weird narratives out of their butts, narratives that have nothing to do with what is actually on film.

No playcaller is going to be good enough for the idiots on this board, and Dawson is the perfect case study. He followed a complete joke in Gattis and IMMEDIATELY improved the offense, and that's despite having a QB that consistently commits awful turnovers, which limits what you can call. Miami had a top 40 offense with TVD last year.

Miami lands a good QB in the portal, Dawson calls his way to easily the best offense Miami has had in TWO DECADES. People love to whine about "Dawson's run game isn't creative enough", while Miami runs the ball down people's throats. One can argue that Dawson should have run the ball more, considering how effective the run game has been in the second half of the season.

I find it a bit odd that the same fans that can't stand Dawson, are huge Lashlee fans, the same Rhett Lashlee those fans hated while he was here. It's almost like we have a lot of mopes that can't stand every single person associated with this program.

I dont think Dawson is some guru but Cam put us in some bad spots, missed open guys, didnt see open guys, and held the ball too long.

We were COOKING WITH GAS in first, and I wanted to see why 2nd we struggle so I was interested to see what we do, even later when it was clear game was too big for Bell they gambled season and kept playing him burning season to give participation.

That 2nd qtr we literally burn the season to get Lyle first half reps. Martinez was rolling and he only touched ball what 10 times running?!

You can see sequence and with video someone can make a good thread about watching our season die in 2nd qtr. This is the reason right here.

1st series the Lyle run was a real nice setup we just missed the block. After that Dawson got us into a makeable 3rd down. Not like he ran a flea flicker for McCormick. Think 4 guys ran 5-6 yards down the field and #84 was the one Cam threw it to. We ran a rub route on 3rd down for Arroyo on the sideline but Cam didn't take it and went to Brown on the next progression. After rewatch I was fine with this series. The outside run call was a good call we just didn't execute. After that Dawson was just trying to get a first down, while behind the sticks in suboptimal field position.

2nd series was bad after the big first down pass. Got behind the sticks again after first down when Cam got on the ground instead of picking up 5+ yards. Ran a dog **** read option to Lyle that #10 played great. Then we didn't pass block anybody on 3rd and long. That sequence was awful. We shoulda just ran #6 on first down from midfield after the big completion.

The call I don't understand at all was 2nd and goal from 23 after the George personal foul. We were in 12 personnel and Arroyo basically blocked someone down the field (lucky he didn't get OPI) all for Cam to throw a 8 yard pass to #84. Made no sense at all, unless Coach had decided to play for the FG after the penalty. Which would be dumb as ****.

Exactly, the screen was there. Honestly, had X broken a tackle and HELD ON TO THE BALL, he was gone. It was a fluky play. Guy threw a haymaker at the ball and connected. It bounced to a guy and he had a free run to the endzone.

Sometimes the perfect call goes wrong, not because the concept was wrong, but because you are dealing with human beings. I will say this though: Dawson should have condensed the game once it became evident that the Miami D wasn't going to stop Syracuse. Run the ball down their throats, limit their possessions, and hope that standing on the sideline ruins their timing.

Man that weak *** defense they had we definitely could’ve gotten 4 yards

No. The issue is he didn’t play complimentary football. I don’t fault him for that. He calls the offense the same whether UM is up 21 or down 21. It is up to the HC to say, “we’re up 3 TDs, I want to play bully ball now and limit their possessions.” Maybe Dawson has the discretion to look at how our own defense is struggling and then adjust accordingly to bleed clock, but I don’t think that is part of his thought process. Seems a little strange for him to shoulder that responsibility and let make the call on his own to change the O to protect the Defense.

Yup. I think when we got the ball up 21-14 that was when we needed to change gears and just feed #6.

We got to midfield on the big pass to X to start the drive. Bonus. After that it should have been #6 till they stopped him.

I think Mario had to step in and stop the subbing out of #6 and make sure Dawson understood that we needed to hold the ball and limit possessions as the defense was ****ed.

The D just kept getting worse as the game went on in the second half, and we never just ran #6 till they stopped him. That's a head coaching decision IMO.

Dawson just did what he did the whole year when we had the #1 offense. We averaged 10ypa for the entire game and I believe we were at 12-13ypa in the second quarter. Tough to expect an OC to be like, "Now in the second quarter [when the other team hasn't stopped us throwing] is the time to take the air out of the ball."

They had 6 guys on the line against 5 blockers. I don't think we were getting 4 yards on the ground against that. If ur saying we shoulda just lined up in 12 personnel and ran it right at them with #6 here, then I agree.

We literally got the first down and the all time leading receiver in our history fumbled. What is wrong with our fans for real? It was first down at the Syracuse 42 😂

Yes bring the tightened in and block go to back set and run counter or trap and get me 4 yards find a play to run that actually helps us easily get yards

IMO i think allowed Ward to have too much control of the offense. At the end of the day, you're a coach and the QB needs to do what you say or bench him. Stop looking down field and throw to the check down.

The GT was full of complaints that we were getting away from what was working by running too much and not continuing to take deep shots lol.
