Dawson Scheme notes

The trend with AR guys has been to a more deliberate pace with the threat of going fast at any time.

Tempo has gone from 100% full throttle to more of a tool in the toolbox.
This. Thanks for putting it succinctly. "Deliberate" is a great term for it.

As am I. I just hope he maximizes our talent, which right now is a healthy TVD trying to get back into the national spotlight.
One thing that actually made me physically gag was watching us try to hurry up on 3rd and short and try to catch the defense napping, quick snap/run

It NEVER worked

Sometimes it’s like just slow the f down and get everyone on the same page

What about sending the offensive unit on the field on fourth down at the 50 to then call a timeout because the play clock was running down? Then punting……….twice in the same game !!

Full disclosure - I haven't watched enough complete games (especially losses) to get a feel for whether what happened with Tulane was just a "thing", or whether it's symptomatic of a larger trend. All OCs have games like that - tighter score than it should be, mistakes start piling up, etc. So I don't want to come down too hard or too soft either way.

Pause.
for those of that cannot watch the videos, i appreciate your analysis and conclusions.

I know you are well read, but this fallacy was shot down by a former member of the Houston staff. Holgy did not take over playcalling.
I mean, is that really something they would call out publicly though? I’ve not been able to determine one way or the other, but seems like the Houston fanbase overall is insistent that Holgorsen took over much of the OC duties sometime this past season.

Eerily similar to what Michigan fans were saying about Gattis (which most here also quickly dismissed), but let’s hope those situations are completely different lol

(That being said, even if he did, their offense in the first half of the season still looked miles better than what Miami fielded)

Usually if someone is calling plays they will have a play sheet especially for offensive playcallers, from the games I watched I didn’t see dana have a play sheet so I don’t think he called plays but i do think he probably stepped in and help make changes..

That could be a concern too, dawson hasn’t been a successful oc without dana as the head coach. So we’ll see if he can produce a successful unit without having that crutch, and thats why his support staff is Important like rb & wr coach and the quality control, analysts guys too

This has been disproven so many times at this point.

Just search for @JustAFanHTX comments about this, I hope he doesn't mind being added here.

**** is sooo simple.. But we wanted to play hard offense for yearssssssssss.. I cant wait to see Chris Johnson swinging out catching those passes in open field..

We suuckkk so bad last year its hard to even get excited especially with spread revolution being over for years and we just getting there but I hope Dawson is able to really run his scheme how he wants..
