Gilbert's career stats. Looks like he played 14 games last year, started 13 and from those numbers played very well.

Nah. He was completely crippled and retired. LULZ.
Yes. He was. Maybe do a little research next time.

You're lost, man. My research is done with my eyes.
If he was so badly crippled, then how'd he play so well in 2012? He didn't want to play for the new coach at Wisconsin and bought Al's line of bull. He came back home to play his final year and got lost here. There were absolutely NO SIGNS all year long that this guy was hurt or limited. He played immediately and was never mentioned as injured at any point in this season.
LOL, buddy I just posted the actual article for you. These were his OWN words and decision he made with his OWN doctors after the multiple surgeries and reinjuries he suffered on the same foot. That he decided to come back again anyway and play is great. But just because you didnt see him being carted off the field, does not mean he was 100% healthy on that foot. To START. Secondly, "he played so well in 2012", but his numbers were basically the same as Shayon Green's this year, so what exactly is the point of all this? Even if we assume Gilbert was 100%, something HIGHLY doubtful considering the kid had OFFICIALLY QUIT football because of his repeated injuries, what exactly did you think he was going to do over Shayon Green?
From what it looks like to me, you have basically two guys who were playing about the same type of football. When you look at their numbers side by side, what big improvement should we expect from Gilbert? And if there is no big improvement, why would you bench a Senior Team leader who has been here the whole time, for a 1 year transfer, with a history of major injuries?
And for the record, Ive watched Gilbert closely too when he's been in, and I have seen him blow a number of assignments in games. He's no more a master of this "system" than anyone else on that defense.
This thread is another stupid thing to nitpick about and complain about the coaches. Now IF ONLY we had played Gilbert more, things would have been great. But the stats DONT back that up. They show Gilbert's BEST year at UW, was very similar to Shayon's numbers this year. So what objective data do you have to offer to say that the coaches were stupid for starting Shayon over Gilbert? And please dont give me "my data is my eyes", stuff. Because if Gilbert has been out there beasting, I havent seen it, and Ive been looking.
Gilbert, like Renfrow, was brought in here for depth and experience. Im sure they were hoping he would also improve the DL and maybe the pass rush. But when you look at the numbers Shayon put up this year, there is NO WAY ANYONE can assert that Gilbert would have put up better numbers had he played more or been the starter.
