From Barry Jackson: UM defensive end David Gilbert, an honorable mention All-Big 10 selection as a starter on a very good Wisconsin team last season, admitted Monday that he was so upset about his limited playing time at Miami earlier this season that he asked himself, “Why did I even come here?”

But he said he then learned to “check my ego” and realized this “is Shayon Green’s team.”

Cooks002: What the **** is going on in that locker room?

I think that comment says it all. This IS Shayon Green's team. And we can see what it has given us. Guys like Shayon and AJ Highsmith have a lot of heart, but are sorely lacking in talent. In Green's case, its due in large part to his many health issues over the years. But it is what it is. I wonder if AG maybe hasnt taken this "loyalty to the Seniors" thing a bit too far over the NCAA stuff. Its not like we got raped by the NCAA and these guys were such hot commodities they were at risk of transferring. I mean where the F*CK was Highsmith or Green going to go? FAMU?

we are dealing with Joe Paterno style coaches..seniors and loyalty mean everything....
Joe hardly ever played freshman..believed that seniors no matter the talent were older and more mature to handle game day situations...that has never been the case here at Miami..we play the best period.....Golden and crew are slowly coming around coley, burns, Mcord etc....

as for this lil gem you posted...Barry Jackson is the issue, prying and trying to start Bull**** when at the most critical time in years we need this team as a team win two more games and 2014 gets easier...

Guysm, the fact that this is Shayon's team speaks to our talent guysm. When our team is back to being a 1st round NFLer's team, then we can start expecting progress on defense guysm.

FWIW, I understand Gilbert's disappointment at limited playing time, but to be quite honest, Ive seen him make several mistakes when he has been in there assignment wise. That is the problem with being a 5th year transfer like this. You are used to a different system, with different plays, calls, audibles, etc. Despite the fact that he's obviously physically developed, and an experienced player, he's not experienced in THIS particular system. And there wasnt much time for him to learn it.

This is the **** im talking about.. Green has started 23 games in a row for us.. This is mind boggling!!
This is not pop warner dam it...
I LOVE THIS QUOTE. Im not hating on Green, but Dorito and Comp ****ed up big time this year by not promoting competition for the DE position.. This is BS.! Our ends sucked ball, so why wasnt there any shuffling around with the starters at DE this whole season ? #51 and #71's names were cemented in our Depth Chart the whole season. We didnt have Jermome McDougle and Andrew Williams starting this year, so what the **** were the coaches evaluating on? Sacks? Hurries? Domination of games like an OP posted the other day? LOL... WOW,.

Would liked to have seen more of:

Muhammad over Shayon

Moore over Renfrow

Kirby over Gaines

Grace over Cornelius

Carter over Highsmith

THANKS AL

Golden is loyal to a fault to these super ******* ****** seniors. A bunch of useless bodies out there.

Imagine a 4-3

Chick-Pierre-Porter-Gilbert/kamalu
Green-LRob-Renfrow-AQM

Perryman-Kirby-McCord/Figueroa
Grace-Gaines-Armbrister

/ not right personnel for 4-3 though

Not excusing the situation but making an observation.

Gilbert looks as slow as Green does out there. Looks like the foot injury really sapped him of some burst.

That being said, Gilbert is prob still learning the process and doesn't yet trust the process. Once he learns the process he will be able to trust the process.

I heard Green's knees was bullying everyone in the locker room... You know you're a bad man when your knees does all the dirty work for you.

These guys care more about who shows up to meetings 5 minutes early all week than they do on-field performance. **** is ***.

Gaines playing over Kirby is the worst thing to ever happen.

Jackson's definition of "very good" is pretty **** liberal. That Wisconsin team lost six games last year. 5 games in the regular season. They got to curb stomp Nebraska in the Big Ten title game because Ohio State and Penn State were ineligible.

Pathetic that we took that gift from Wisconsin and wasted him all year. He was good enough to make a lot of plays there and win conference accolades, but he couldn't do a **** thing to help us in a position where we are so supposedly so bereft of talent.

Do the "we have no talent" guys see how stupid they are when we have a guy like Gilbert on the team, yet we can't get anything out of him?

Gilbert is being used completely wrong here.

When he was healthy at Wisconsin he was disruptive force in the backfield as a 4-3 DE. I believe that's part of the reason he left Wisconsin-they are shifting to a 3-4 and he felt his talents better suited a 4-3. Having him stand up at OLB and drop into coverage is not his game.

Again, square peg, round hole.

I'd venture to say every DL on the team is being used wrong
