DAILY DEBATE: Who was your biggest disappointment in Miami history?

Yeah I was stunned and super exited when we got him, but he was just another disappointing signee.
Didn't do much of **** anywhere i don't think, goes to show, though you want these jacked kids they're most likely running over kids at the high school level from a purely physical standpoint and maybe less talent.

You all know I’m a big Jeff Thomas fan…I gotta say him. Wasn’t all his fault tho. OC sucked and the QBs he played with absolutely sucked too. Then add in Jeff being a headcase as well. I really thought he was going to be the next great WR out of here.
Lol i remember the video of him goin against Ivey an thinkin they were both gonna be special. Jeff wanna my favorite Canes! He deserved better. That spin move on Florida. The HS School AA game he broke lose 2 or 3 times best player on the field smh

QB Chris Walsh
Steve's younger brother. Maybe he was only a legacy recruit, I don't remember. If he ever played it would have been garbage time against a Div-II opponent and the Canes up 50+ points.

OT Seantrel Henderson
Former #1 overall recruit who transferred to Miami from USC. He never put it together and still managed to play in the NFL for a few seasons, after being a 7th round pick.

HCs Shannon-Golden-Richt
For all of the players who flashed but could never play with any consistency and replaced by another bust.
OL, RB, WR, TE, DL, LB, DB
Too many to list.

Sapp?

Didn't we have a crazy linebacker or 2 that like r*ped a chick or some ****? A player that killed a teammate? A few players that were whipping their woman's head?
A player that beat a student to a bloody pulp?

Like, I get it. Sapp is an asshat and jerkoff but listing him as a "human disappointment" over MFs like Rashaun Jones and Eddie Johnson is just an insane way of viewing things bruh.
Ok

It’s a shame what coaching did to that 08 class. Tate overall has to be the worst. Was the only player among them that was literally unplayable.

Borderline criminal what they did with Chik. Fattened him up and played him at DT. As soon as he finished playing for Miami he dropped a bunch of weight and made it to the league at DE.

My vote is the Miami Northwestern class of 2008. All that hype and only Spence did anything significant, although Jacory had a couple of moments.

Willie Williams and Kyle Wright are the most obvious ones for me. Some other prominent ones are:

Ryan Moore
Reggie Youngblood
Arthur Brown
Marcus Forston
Leon Williams (he was solid, but I hoped he was going to be All-World, especially because I’m from Brooklyn)

But the one other player who challenges Willie and Kyle is Seantrel. Is he the most hyped offensive line prospect of the recruiting sites era? He was almost the #1 overall player and getting compared to Orlando Pace and Ogden.

Seeing a lot of Kyle Wright on here for "most disappointing."

Is this because of the circumstances surrounding his career here, or his actual performance? I will agree that he was a disappointment for me as well, but not for his performance. Not saying he played up to expectations, but he wasn't as bad as everyone thinks. I'm also not a huge Kyle Wright fan, I just get tired when he's put in the same category of qb's as Kirby Freeman.

Kyle redshirted his freshman season (2003) and then was a backup to Brock Berlin his RS freshman season (2004). He was starter his RS sophomore season (2005) and played very well. Season ended on a disappointment, but he was one of the top qb's in the ACC. Lot of high hope for the next season.

Started the 2006 season, but did not play very well. Didn't help that we got a new OC that year and Coker had obviously lost control of the team. His best receiver, Darnell Jenkins (yes Darnell Jenkins was our best WR that year) also got injured early in the season. Wright also got injured later in the season. I think he missed the last 4-5 games. Overall, Wright did not play very well in the 2006 season in the games he played. Still better than Freeman could ever dream of playing.

2007 saw Randy Shannon as our new HC and everybody's favorite, Patrick Nix, as our new OC. Now, Wright is in his 3rd full season with 3 different OC's. Wright didn't even start the beginning of the 2007 season. Kirby Freeman was the starter. I'm not sure if Wright was still recovering from the injury or Shannon/Nix just preferred Freeman. Well, Freeman sucked so bad the first few games, Wright eventually replaced him and played decent. Not saying he played awesome, but he wasn't terrible. Had a winning record as a starter. He then got injured again and missed the last 4 games of the season. Yeah, as you can imagine, we lost those last 4 games with Freeman playing.

Wright wasn't good, but his last 2 seasons were pretty much derailed by injuries. His overall career was definitely a disappointment. No argument there. I feel he was really dealt a bad hand by injuries, bad coaching, and lack of talent in WR department.
I agree about Kyle. In different circumstances he might have lived up to the hype. Not all his fault.

You must be from around the area. I played against Calhoun in high school and he was ever bit the part. They got a kid JJ Chapman who went down to prospect camp last year with my buddy and a few other kids. They are ALL canes fans so if they ever get on the coaches radar they are definitely on commit watch.

I am. Those guys were a couple years ahead of me and were out of conference so I never played against them live. But we’d cross paths in off-season workouts and camps from time to time.

Beckum was like an alien. As Brian Scalbrine would say “I am closer to LeBron James, than you are to me.” Made me realize how different elite athletes are.

Pretty much Shannon’s entire 2008 class. Crazy how that class was rated above Saban’s first full class. Vastly different outcomes.

Most of these are just guys that were highly ranked and didn't achieve their potential. I mean, you guys jump on the hype train of everybody we've ever recruited to the point of unrealistic expectations.

Basically most 5 stars we've recruited is on the lists. That says something about how will we've recruited.

Expectation criteria:
Willie Williams is probably the best fit considering the criteria everyone seems to be using. He wasn't just a five star he was really supposed to be the Jeremiah Smith of linebackers dominating as a freshman. Instead he turned out to be an idiot.

Tragedy criteria:
Ahmad Richards is a good one because he was highly ranked came in and did incredible and then got injured. Huge disappointment. Would have been a 1st rounder.

Other:
Jake Garcia, Forston, ect... Just a bunch of JAGs that were highly rated recruits. They don't really deserve to be on this list.

We didn’t do Kyle Wright any favors with our offensive system and the OCs we had during his time but that’s only part of the issue. He was very slow making decisions. He would look great on those rare moments he’d have a 100% clean pocket and all day to throw but anytime he had to speed up his clock, he’d **** himself. Maybe he could have been a decent college QB in a watered down air raid type of system where a ton of the reads are pre snap and you don’t have to make a ton of decisions but dude took 3 seconds to find a receiver and usually only had two.

100% in agreement , Chudzinski never got it ,played all HS years in the shotgun
all we saw were snippets like the UF game
Yea, Berlin may not have lived up to the hype, but I’ll never forget that game against Florida and will forever live in U lore for that game alone.
