Again, continuing to rely so heavily on the portal after year 4 is an embarrassment. If you think we're going to have some massive portal hall, you're sadly mistaken. Quality over Quantity is a proven recipe for success. If we want to not develop our expensive high school classes and just portal an entire new starting roster every year, then we'll NEVER EVER get to what were we want to be. NEVER
I'm not a fan of Mesidor and Bain starting. QB2 anyone with in game experience or high potential. I agree about RB, but Lyle may not sign off on that.

Not enough Elite Talent? Bain, Lowe, Scott, Blount and Lightfoot are all top 40 recruits lol. Those guys have significantly higher upside than any dlineman that would be available post spring lol. Carr, Trader, Robinson and Joseph are all top 100 recruits. If those guys can't make take the next step, it's clearly a staff issue, not a talent issue
A lot of it is dependent on Carson Beck to do some tampering, he will play a big role in the recruitment of the spring portal.
I'm not saying we should get guys in the spring portal, but we don't need a big overhaul. I said a safety, LB and a WR1 are really the only true priorities. I just don't see the need to keep spending money on portal depth pieces at positions like DE and WR. We spent a lot of money on those high profile recruits at that position, so if we bring in cheap one year depth rentals, then those guys are gone. Then come December, we're relying on a big portal hual again. We'll never get out of that cycle if we don't develop and play what we have. These kids need real reps. Competitive teams prove time and time again that Quality over Quantity in the portal is the key to success. People also need to remember that no starting impact DE is going to come in when we have Bain and Mesidor starting already. No impactful RB is going to come when we have Lyle and Fletcher are leading the way. Also, I just don't see a second WR coming when we already have another portal WR1, Daniels, Trader and Carr.
Physical development isn’t his job, but I do want to see how he develops those guys. We still should be looking to bring in another edge rusher instead of hoping an inexperienced guy becomes an impact player this year
I just think that's waste of money. For starters, the odds of us brining in a starting caliber DE when we have Bain and Messidor are low. We paid a lot of money for guys like Lighfoot, Picket, Mcconothy and Blount. If we bring in those low end depth portal ends, some of those high profile recruits will leave and then we need another big portal hall come winter. The cycle will never end
The portal is not where you go for backups. We have three years of evidence thus far and I don't want a fourth, even if we do find another name like Lucious.
