DAILY DEBATE: What is a successful season to you?

Honestly last season it felt like we were handicapped by coaching.... like every game we were being outcoached.

We have the resources now and can get the players. The question is do we have the right staff to pick the right pieces and put together a successful team.
I think if we play last year over again with the exact same coaching but this years players we are 10-2 at worst. Coaching absolutely matters but without the talent it doesn't really matter.

Oh we are going to win but I want it to be domination. I want teams to be scared of us klike the good old times. And fans too. Yes that is a successful season to me. Everyone crapping in their pants about the U

10 wins minimum and beating both in state rivals...playing in the ACC Champ game and hopefully winning it. Barring unforeseen injuries, if not now, then when?

I agree with Joel Klatt that 10-2 is a disappointment but I will take 10-2 if they are getting blowouts and looking how they are supposed to look and just happen to get bad bounces a couple times.

If the10-2 is a smoke and mirrors, small margin of victory over mid teams, Rosier pass bouncing off a helmet to Langham to save us from Ls type 10-2 then that is a bad sign.

So you’d be good with 8 wins?

I think there are some posts trying to lower the bar as a built in exoneration mechanism for the Head Coach.

I think there’s a simple question that should have been asked:

“How many wins would make this a successful season?”

No less than 10 wins given the talent this Head coach has assembled and the schedule he faces.

I don't think anyone would be "good" with 8, but we will certainly have people "explaining" and "graphing" out the progress we've made. The it takes time crowd will find the smallest sliver of improvement to hang over the "mopes." Minimum of 10 wins should be the unanimous answer.

10 wins anyway we can get it is a successful season.

We win 10 if:

We finish in the top 55 in turnovers lost.
We finish in the top 55 in penalties.

Can’t say it enough that we are dangerous if we can simply force the other team to beat us instead of beating ourselves.

To be able to say at the end of the season that it looked like a well coached team.

The talent is already there. Hearing many of the players saying in their interviews that they just want to do their jobs is a refreshing change of tone from prior seasons. Coach up the player, then coach up the scheme.

The schedule is so much in our favor…

At the risk of sounding delusional UF and FSU are the only teams close to being on par talent wise. We don’t have UNC on our schedule who has had our number.

We are supposed to beat everyone else on the schedule and convincingly. If our only two losses end up being to FSU and UF then does that mean our coaching can’t figure out how to coach through even footing?

If we split those two and lose one or more of the other games then we’re losing to teams we’re not supposed to… there would be a lot of questions there.

This roster vs this schedule points to a high win total if the coaching is where it needs to be.
