Culture changing

Hey Brooklyndee I could care what you believe or not. Everything I said is a fact and I'm 69 and seen many coaches and football games in my lifetime. That certainly doesn't make me an expert by no means. As a freshmen in college in 1972 I was lucky and able to watch every game the Miami Dolphins won in 1972. They were a very good team but Don Shula made them a great team. They won several games that could have been a loss. His coaching was beyond spectacular in so many ways. The team was disciplined, they played to win, timeouts were used properly, and game time decisions were the correct ones .Butch was not the best day game coach but he resurrected the program and saved it while giving Coker a lay down Championship run. What I do know is that Mario coached the worst season in the history of college football last year For 8 millions dollars we got a coach that made every day game decision go against us, couldn't manage the clock, and showed his players that he doesn't play to win. I have been to 99% of the games since 1983. Last year I left in the second quarter of the FSU game (first time ever) when he took a few minutes to make a decision to either go for it on 4th down with the ball on our 41 or punt. The game was getting out of hand and his decision to punt was a clear sign of a loser that had no faith in his team. Mind you, FSU scored like 90 seconds later after the punt and the rout was on. Those are the FACTS and you can't deny it. This is for DAMIEN and yes he did beat Ohio STATE. He also had a 7-14 record at Oregon as a home favorite during his tenure. My hope is that the Hurricanes get back to their winning ways under MARIO. He is going to have the change his philosophy on coaching in many respects. For you CT Cane 44 I say the following. MARIO was given free reins and tons of money with an 8 million dollar salary and he flopped down right down on his face. With great coaching we should have won at least 8 games last year but there were so many poor coaching decisions and self inflicted wounds. Totally disagree with you 1000000% as far as the schedule. We should beat Texas A&M and NC. THERE ARE MANY CREAM PUFFS ON THE 2023 SCHEDULE. Nine wins is in play to say the least. As far as taking time to win tell that to TCU and about 100 other universities. You my friend are settling for mediocre results and paying a head coach a ton of money! Yeah, I know what I talking about.

The phrase is "I could not care less." If you can care less, then you must care some. Then again, considering the lengthy diatribe, maybe you had it right.

Excellent recruiting from the position you start in (5-7 aint pretty) combined with a couple of break through games (think UCLA) and you've have a chance to turn this thing around. Mario first guy to have the resources, the experience (his Alabama stint was a huge developmental step) and the drive to pull this off. If he fails, just shut this baby down.

Think UM could get a curling team toward the top? NIL?

You know - after football?

Welp I'm gonna go ahead and call bull****. If what you're saying is true and you've been a fan of ours for so long than you wouldn't have said what you just did. YOUR EXACT COMPLAINT WAS THE EXACT ISSUE EVERYONE HAD WITH BUTCH!!! Same people would swear his game day coaching was horrible and he needed to go. All cause more people who were clueless expected dominance out of us from day 1. If you really are a um fan than you realize Butch and Mario are one in the same. So if you had that confidence in Butch than have that same confidence in Mario and be a fan rather than yet another negative voice trying to tear us down... That's what fans do. They support.

I'm an athletic supporter!

Golden had one problem that prevented him from being successful. Never hire your bud to be coordinator or even a coach. If you know you'll be unwilling to fire a guy, then don't hire him. No D was literally the most stubborn brain coach I've seen at any level. If your scheme requires perfection from 18-21 year olds you are a fool.
Yes!!! And choosing to recruit slow big guys and play a 3 man front was also ridiculous. They ruined Matthew Thomas.

Let’s be real here, he’s supporting the Canes or else he would not have gone to the games or spend his spare time on this forum talking about Miami football lol. Why mafukkas always gotta measure everyone’s fandom? You can be a fan and not blindly support the type of **** show we have shown the past 20 years and not question anything. He’s not tearing Mario down, he’s just speaking his truth.
No one is debating that. Atleast I'm not. I'm debating the fact if he really has even been a fan that long than he was around during Butch's tenure & he said he had all this confidence in Butch. Well if he did, than he has zero reason not to have the same confidence in Mario. Because they are essentially the same coach. The knock on butch is the same knock they have on Mario. They questioned his game day coaching. Wasn't a single other knock on him & there isn't a single other knock on Mario either. So why have confidence in one of you won't have confidence in the either. This whole narrative of what he's paid is dumb as **** & it's just a distraction. He's paid what he's paid so that he would come home from Oregon. Simple as that and doesn't need to constantly be *****ed about. So many people wanna complain what everyone else does with their own money. It's tiresome & it's lame.

this clip. notice no smiling. all serious. we are recruiting the right kids.

I mentioned this in another thread. I feel like Mario will upgrade the talent no doubt but will have an influx of football guys that just work their rear ends off. We so badly needed guys in the locker room who love ball and have Pro aspirations!!! Time will tell. Starting with this season!

Huh? What about all the non-qualifiers he took, the attrition, lack of development, lack of evaluation, etc.? There was a lot to be desired from Golden. It was more than one issue. Every year y’all mention that man.

Mario agrees, that’s why he changed nearly the entire freaking staff. But you wait until you see it. $20 million a year wouldn’t fix what Mario inherited and the craziest amount of injuries we endured.
Well said! I understand the frustrations as a fan. But we have to honest about how bad our program has been for decades now. Mario isn’t a magician. Anybody with real football IQ knew last year wouldn’t be the sample size to judge the state of the future. Mario kept saying repeatedly we need DUDES!!! The man said it in every interview he had since day one of getting here. I believe we will put out a better product this year and next year we should have 10 win expectations!!!

A jock strap?

The subject matter was supporting our football athletes - and how keyboard sphincters aren't fans and thus not supporters of our athletes.

I merely stated I was an athletic supporter.

If I were a jock strap - I'd say so.

You don't really follow subtle humor well, do you?

It's OK. I don't follow the Gross National Product of New Zealand.

The same type of coach. You may need to get back with us a few years down the road if Mario can amass the NFL talent, 1st rd NFL talent, Butch did.

The man said he is 69 years old. Why go there?

I don't need any lessons on anything Butch did thanks, and I also said what I said because Mario has already done the same... That's not up for debate or is it anything he still has to prove. Only thing you can speak on is how much first round talent. Regardless all you just did is change the narrative like all y'all constantly feel the need to do. He admitted he's a great recruiter. His concern is his game day coaching. That's the same concern people had for ***** to the same extent where the overly emotional fanbase constantly called for Butch to be fired as well. I lived all of this first hand and I've known Mario since I was a jit. They are the same coach & to be fair to Mario he's a lil more open to letting his assistants have a say.

Mario's done the same as Butch and that's not up for debate? LOL. You know as well as I that had Butch stayed he would've built a dynasty and won multiple national championships. Mario is an excellent recruiter, but Butch's evals. we're other-worldly. And you know that. Comparable to what Saban's doing, but without anywhere near the support Saban has.

And to say the only point I have in the argument is all of Butch's first-rounders...well, duh. That's like saying Bellichik sucks if you don't count all the championship rings😂.

Not tearing Mario down, but he's got a lot to prove to live up to your comp.

I just LMAO at some of these guys that insist on questioning someone that’s had first hand, on the field knowledge and experience with the topic at hand. Instead of constantly trying to push a tired, 20 year old narrative in their lame attempt at being “right”, they should listen to someone that knows the topic, past and present, that’s lived it and currently lives it.

My response was subtle humor. A jock strap is literally referred to as an athletic supporter. I figured it was too easy of a punch line to pass up.
