CS Ferman News on Kirkland

figueroa may be good but we dont pass up ELITE TALENT IN OUR BACKYARD TO GO AFTER TERRELL BROOKS

You can't pass up what wasn't coming in the first place.

Kirkland was coming. That's why you're seeing this reaction out of Ice. Kirkland was going to come, but was not being straight up with the coaches, they lost Thomas after tonight's in-home, and they said **** it, if you're not going to commit to us right now we have other kids who will.

Hard to reconcile those two statements.

Somewhat, the kid just might be being a kid and wanted to "talk things over" when deep down he knew he was going to UM. W/e though, this will never make much sense.

I do think that is actually the case. I think we lost him and said **** it, especially if Ice and crew were telling UM all along that they'd get those kids.

Yep, they had to have figured the Thomas situation before doing this. My guess is Coley told them the real deal on these kids, and that they couldnt take what Harris was saying as truth. They figured Thomas was probably gone, and so they decided to force Kirkland's hand. When he balked we walked since we need DL more than another OL anyway, and its not going to matter with Thomas anyway.

The situation with Harris somehow has to get somewhat smoothed over, but I wonder if the staff knows that Harris is playing games too and have lost faith in him too, maybe that is why he is so hot.

Credit to you. I thought Thomas was a lock but you called this. I'm thinking the same thing with Harris. I think they may have thought he was full of it and said **** it, we don't care. We'll lose the 1 or 2 BTW kids every year and deal with it.

Man I hope Im wrong. I hope this is all just a big tiff over some bullsh*t. Believe me, I wanted Thomas BAD.. as much as anyone, but I just havent had a good feeling on the kid in a while. Still hope that maybe this will play out different, that maybe wants to stay home, but the way this has played out, I think its the proverbial writing on the wall, and Golden knew the score before he pulled the move.

That's how I feel too and I think the UM coaches might have gotten many assurances from Ice that Thomas was coming, and when he told them he wasn't, they felt like they got played.

If that's the case, that's seriously ****ing ****ty to do to Barrow and the coaching staff at UM.

YEP, and think it all the way through. Harris played us on Thomas and we knew it, he was also playing us FOR Kirkland, and probably still dangling Thomas in order to hold Kirkland's spot. Golden knew that THomas was gone and that Harris was full of sh*t, and so they decided to make Kirkland pull the trigger, he wouldnt, and we walked. Harris is ****ed because his little game got blown up. Maybe Kirkland WAS going to come here, but he wouldnt be straight with us, and they knew they couldnt rely on Harris because he was making the same promises about THomas, and they knew THomas was gone.

If that is the case, than apart from the political issues at BTW we need to fix, this was the right move by Golden. People are freaking out, but this man does think sh*t through. These guys wouldnt have blown this up like this unless they felt they were being played and that we had to do what was best for the program. Im going to ride with Al on this and hope these guys know what they were doing, its actually the way this story makes the most sense.

Interesting how everybody is killing Ice and Kirkland. It's as if UM is infallible and can do no wrong at all.

If this was your kid being treated this way I wonder how you all would feel then. Have some perspective.

bro im all about taking a project or two in a class but we REALLY CANT AFFORD TO BE TAKING SO MANY IN THIS CASE. figueroa, sonny, lewis, butler juco kid, and potentially a reach in brooks. this is unbelievable to me that u guys arent noticing the trend man

Good points all around on Coley's connection here.

Also, I highly doubt it's Brooks. You run this play the other way around, with the JuCo kid waiting for the last spot.

MAYBE not though. What if Bostwick said "no thanks coach, Im going to UF". They know Bryant is gone, so what does that leave? IF they think they NEED two DTs in this class, then that is what they NEED to take. YOu take the critical need spot, over saving it for an OL who you dont necessarily need right now, and is flaking on you anway.

A definite possibility. But a likely one? We don't need Brooks in this class that badly. 4 DTs are rising sophomores.

Unless this is a pure evaluation take, and they like Brooks better than Kirk, but wanted to give him a spot in order to keep things smooth with BTW and MT.

Kirkland got F8cked because of Ice Harris. That is how Im starting to think. Harris thought he could get us to hold Kirkland's spot until next week, by dangling Thomas at us. Once we knew that Thomas was gone, and that Harris COULDNT deliver, we lost faith in him, and we needed Kirkland to give us his word. When he didnt, we bailed, and Harris went ballistic because he knew his credibility was sh*t and by yanking Kirkland we basically told him so.

i love how u guys are fine with us letting an all american OL leave our backyard and taking on a kid like alex figueroa who didnt even D-1 offer nor played any type of ball last season. its remarkable the googles u guys have.

lets be realistic, we are not in the position right now with the jack** NCAA sh*t to be burning bridges with BTW

I can only speak for myself, and I'm willing to give Al the benefit of the doubt and not simply accept the one side of the story that is being fed to the media. I doubt that Al would be willing to take this sort of hit just for a numbers situation when he's still out there offering guys. There's way more to this story than the media is hearing. Must suck to be Al sitting there reading this **** and not being able to respond. My head would pop off if I had to read Ice spewing that crap and not be able to respond.

P.S. I have never really fully trusted that Ice is all the way in Al's corner. Shanntard hired the guy. Al gets here. Ice is gone. I never bought all the public lovey dovey **** I was hearing before Ice's melt down tonight.

That story makes the most sense out of everything.

Imagining it was your kid is the easiest way to lose perspective. Osama bin Laden's mama is probably still running around talmbout, "My baby is innocent, he was set up! It was them boys he was running with, I told him they weren't no good! My baby go to church!"

im starting to notice that you're too dumb to realize that this class isnt shaping up to be a real good one.

So if Kirkland decided tomorrow that this is where he wanted to be and told the coaches, they wouldn't take him if they wanted him badly?

Ice's comments read inflammatory and its fueling all of this.

bro we lost an elite talent in thomas to fsu again! we can even keep the best players in our backyard. im shocked that you guys arent concerned by this.

Maybe we are waiting to be concerned about it when it actually happens.
Untill then it's all expeculation.

No...if you've been reading people are killing golden and the staff too

Everyone's coming up with these deep conspiracy theories, but really it can be quite simple. They had a player (apparently a defensive lineman) who was willing to commit right now. They went to Kirkland and told him to commit now or else. He chose not to. Now he's gone, end of story.

I doubt Ice Harris invented a story about defensive lineman on the spot to trick Manny

The question is, what do we do with Treon?
