MEGA Conference Realignment and lawsuits Megathread: Stories, Tales, Lies, and Exaggerations

I get that but if you're a decision maker in the BIG10 I think you have to look at future projections. With the amount of money Miami is investing is pretty clear the results will be different.

If I was the BIG10 I would make certain Miami is committed to investing into the future and then bring them on at a lower share for the near future. You get the massive upside if Mario hits and guard against the downside with a reduced share.

But here is the bigger reason why adding Miami, I think, is a smart move in this environment. They have the most upside out of any team in all of college football. If you're trying to add eyeballs, you're not doing that with the Ohio State's and Michigan's of the world. They're already fully mature and grown as much as they can grow. You get a lot of people to watch those games but you're not going to get more. Miami is a high potential growth team. They will add eyeballs in a way that very, very few teams can. It's a different product and that's important. They can draw different audiences than what you're used to in college football. That's why I think all these people who dismiss Miami are crazy. Miami has the potential to be an absolute monster because they aren't a prototypical program. And yea, they haven't been good the past 20 years, but that's the gamble and you have to structure it accordingly.

I know I'm a fan, but I don't know how you pass up Miami in your conference. They're like a tech stock. Volatile, but if they start going it's going to be an insane ride.
The issue is timing. Right now the B10 media contract has them capped at 20 members. They are currently at 18 and if they add FSU that is 19 ... room for one more at full share until the new media agreement is done in 2030. SEC by all accounts has "0" interest in Miami due to a variety of reasons ... small, private school, doesn't add major $$ as they already have UF and therefore carriage fees for the State of Florida. So it appears to be Big10 or nothing as far as UM is concerned. Unless the ACC media deal tanks and drops to $20-25M total, then Squid's position ... so you look at the B12 as an interim step? As long as you can join with the right to leave with O cost if / when the P2 invite comes.

Agree ... one major concern is that an exit is negotiated for FSU / Clemson and at the same time a revised media deal for the ACC that has a revised GOR that locks us in more effectively than the current "non iron clad one".
come on man no one is signing a revised grant of rights for a long extension that locks them in more if they don’t like what they’re getting out of it

Again ... takes just 2/3rds of the members. You know BC, Wake, Syracuse will sign anything that keeps some amount of $$$ flowing. No idea what the $$ threshold is for Cal / Stan / SMU and the mid tier ACC members.

At this point he is getting a lot of his information from Warchant. Their conference realignment thread hit 2000 pages a month ago and is now close to 2300 pages. The guy who started that thread ... RegalNole ... a retired guy whose career involved media and some contacts apparently at ESPN ... just posted that the Chair of the FSU BOT now knows their destination, the exit cost, and the date they will announce. So the Warchant board is going crazy with speculation and debate of B10 vs SEC etc. The next court date is June 18 in Leon County, there is a BOT meeting scheduled for June 20, and Collins (BOT Chair) is speaking at a Tallahassee event on June 24 with the topic "conference realignment" on the agenda. Many are speculating that he wouldn't be speaking ON that topic unless they had announced prior to that date ... so there is a lot of expectation / hope on their part.

So Warchant is like CIS, but only with actual dates, agendas and timelines for the rampant speculation....

Tell me more about RegalNole... does he yell at everyone to trust him that everything will be ok ...

Regal seems pretty laid back and confident, and is planning a celebration bash at his beach house in Daytona Beach once the announcement is made “this Summer”.

Cal/Stanford/SMU all taking partial shares for next few years, so I think their threshold won’t be too high and they’ll sign whatever. SMU only option would be B1g12 if they lost some of their other Texas schools. Cal will be good, especially if they get subsidies from B1G through UCLA. I have a feeling that if ND ever goes to a conference, they will bring Stanford as their preferred partner.

I am talking about Miami and a few others, its as alluded to Miami signing it. doubt anyone with a possible landing spot would. no one can force Miami to give up their rights with a vote.

Why?

It’s a message board.
It’s the off-season & there’s not much to discuss.
There is nothing to report concerning our efforts to leave the ACC.
He might be full of cheet but it’s entertaining.
See #1 above.
Have we actually made any effort ?

Key words in your comment "anyone with a possible landing spot".

We just need to win and win big to give the P2 networks no choice but to put us in one of the conferences.

They can see we are putting money into the program now and I can assure you they don’t want us to start winning NC or at least going to the final 4 and not have the eyeballs that this would bring on their network.

This year is the perfect time for Mario to step up and get us to the top 4 and I think he has the horses to do it this year he just has to kneel when it’s called and not lose a game to something stupid.

We look to be becoming relevant again ( hopefully) at the perfect time.

We’ve sucked for 20 years+

Do I think we deserve to get in ? Yep but I’m kind of biased as you are but……

Just because we looked like a Miss Universe 20-30 years ago doesn’t mean we will get asked to the dance now that we’ve grown old and fat…..we need to show we’re losing weight and becoming attractive again.
