Just call for a vote. And don't do so if you don't have the 8 votes.

Things I know about this realignment.

The SEC does NOT want and will NOT take Miami.
The B10 DOES want Miami.
Miami wants to be in the B10.
Miami wants to leave ASAP.
Miami does NOT want to pay alot of money to leave (which is possible if the league dissolves, no league, no exit fee, no GOR)
Miami will NOT be playing in the ACC much longer (conference is going away).
This process may take more time and we will all have to be patient.

Last I heard, SEC door to Miami was not closed but that doesn't mean Miami was intrigued by their position or demands.

I can’t wait to hear the spin from FSU when the deadline expires. My guess is they will claim the SEC jumped in at the last minute and asked them to delay leaving for a year. FSU , Clemson, and the North Carolina schools to the SEC. Virginia, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, and anybody but Miami to the Big Ten.

There are two "good" reasons for F$U to sit on their hands for 48 hours or more...

1. They really want to go to the SEC, and the SEC won't taken them until 2025. so it gives F$U more time to leverage the Big 10 interest to get an SEC offer.
2. Greater likelihood of getting 8 schools to vote to dissolve the conference.

But if nothing happens for the next 48 hours, remember what I said about #1. That will be a pretty good indication of what F$U "really wants".

Now that Big2 seats are becoming finite and teams are ejecting to take discounted rates to secure their spot, I’m very curious what fsu will do. Being hasty and setting arbitrary deadlines for yourself publicly weakens your bargaining power

I totally get why Miami has elected to move in silence

Well if the Big doesn't give the miracle offer to FSU / Clemson Tuesday AND FSU / Clemson are pushing for the SEC, that puts Miami and at least one other ACC program in "next up" position for the Big10. Waiting another year would also increase the probabilities of the B10 taking 4 and the SEC doing the same, which would give us the magic number 8 to dissolve, and the B12 grabs 4 as well, with Wake and BC going regional. Lot of moving parts ... but the most attractive one is the one that has NO ACC conference and no exit fee and a very cloudy GOR.

Yes, but it doesn’t technically eliminate Dissolution as an option, in that its not impossible for the remaining schools to go that route (say if only FSU and Clemson ended up leaving). If 2 schools leave, there’s 13 voting members left. Majority would be 7 votes needed for dissolution. So in total that’d effectively be 9 votes (those 7 + FSU/Clemson) instead of the original 8. More difficult, yes - but not impossible either.

I do agree if anyone announces they’re leaving it likely means they at minimum are challenging the GOR so it is only effective until 2026/2027 or whatever the original date was. From there at worst you have the $120M exit fee and maybe $120M max for the GOR settlement. And who knows, maybe you can settle for only like $160M…? That’s would be pretty reasonable to get out of the ACC by next year.

Of course financially it would still be better to leave in 2025 and paying $0 if you can get vote of dissolution.

What I’m thinking makes most sense is nobody leaves tomorrow. They can actually make the vote for dissolution conditional on receiving a majority support - and announce this (effectively announcing intent to leave). Doing this instead of announcing your intention to leave - which they have till next August to do for 2025 anyways - allows you to retain your other voting rights.

By invite in hand, I'm assuming Flugauer means a nod and a wink from Sankey.

Similar to what U-Dub and Oregon — and us I'd like to think — have had from the Big Ten for some time
 
My prediction is nothing happens before tomorrow.

Then the next year the SEC, B1G, B12 and their media partners will be horse trading behind the scenes to pick the ACC apart and minimize their buyout/legal fees for the exiting teams.

B1G will end up with: Miami, UNC, UVA, and ND games
SEC will end up with: FSU and Clemson
B12 will end up with: Pitt, NC State, Louisville, and VT

GT could slip into one of the 3.

BC and WF and Syracuse end up like the remaining pac4 and need to find a new home.
