I don't like that this thread keeps getting to page 2. Someone please give me some hope that we get out of this god forsaken conference sooner rather than later. PLEASE!

We have evolved from: If only we would just fire Coker/Shannon/Golden/Richt/Cristobal into If only we could get out of this conference.

I have no information on this but have a weird feeling that the ACC is trying to get ND to join as a full member which would then raise the profile of the conference and potentially bring the revenue share closer to comparable with SEC and BIG. At that point no reason for anyone to go anywhere if the ACC isn’t going to be left behind. Just a theory on my part.

The ACC has tried to convince ND to join as a full member for years. The offers don't make sense for ND, though, as they make enough revenue as an independent to continue as one. It would take a massive offer from a network to get ND to join. I think they are getting $60 million per year from NBC, if Netflix, ESPN, etc. were to offer all schools in the ACC $120 million per team per year, maybe NBC doesn't match that number and maybe ND thinks they cannot say no.

It feels like the only way ND would ever agree to be full time ACC is if a godfather offer from an Amazon or Netflix or one of those types of players that is looking to get rights in the college football sphere came to the table. Otherwise, ND wouldn't have any reason or motivation to not stay independent or to not join a Non SEC or Non B1G conference.

That would be great but the Irish get $50 million on their own deal and another $17 million from the ACC deal. ACC teams get $30 million I believe. They would need $75+ to even think about it.

There are 2 reasons why ND would even entertain joining a conference (and they are both very weak):

1. the Committee adds value to the conference championship games played. ND will always have only 12 games on their resume while teams in conference championship games will have that extra game to add to their resume. It could be argued that SMU's performance in the conference championship got them in. If such a situation were to arise somewhat repeatedly to ND, they could change their minds about independence.

2. ND gets tired of having to play an extra playoff game and would like to be in the conversation of getting a bye by being a conference champ. This will likely go away as it seems the playoff committee is already talking about removing the stipulation that the top 4 seeds will go to the 4 highest ranked conference champs.

Neither of these items are likely to happen with any type of regularity so doubtful ND has a reason to join.......and even if they did, I'm sure they are paying the ACC off to get out of their agreement and going to the B1G.

You have guys like Marc Lasry talking about PEs buying college teams. Meaning taking 51% control. The money that could flow into college football might be staggering even for those who are used to looking at big numbers. I highly doubt the current ND financial structure would be an impediment if the whales don’t want it to be. Again, this is all speculation on my part.
