Well, now that the FL AG will have documents related to the ACC overall agreements it could get interesting later this week, then with a drum roll we have the Aug. 15 date quickly approaching. If the infamous unilateral ... "not approved by members" ESPN media agreement extension granted by Phillips in August, 2021, some 7 months AFTER the actual legal extension expired, is ruled NULL & VOID then it is over ... both media agreement and GOR (which exists EXCLUSIVELY TO SUPPORT THE ESPN MEDIA AGREEMENT) are finished after the 2026 football season. So we will see how this thing actually shakes out. Any new ESPN media proposal needs member approval and will be accompanied by a new GOR ... don't sign and the door is open with the ACC exit fee only. Interesting times.

So, cancel my August 15th "FSU Freedom / Death of the ACC" Party?.......Again? lolExtremely generous interpretation, but whatever makes the noles happy I guess. Love how people like "RegalNole" and "Geneticswholebunchofnumbers" have become such experts on intellectual property agreements that as of today, nobody outside the signatories and ACC schools have actually seen. This data dump doesn't really tell us anything. The Rohan guy is a pretty good lawyer, but his speculation is essentially wishful thinking of what the redacted portions might say. Nothing here indicates anyone is getting out of the ACC for the prices FSU and Clemson want to pay.
Reading that document it appears that the original option didn't expire on January 1st, 2021 as believed, but rather on the two year anniversary date of the launch of ACCN, which was August 22, 2019. So Phillips kindly, without advising or getting approval from the members, unilaterally granted ESPN an extension until Feb. 2, 2025 to have time to reconsider. No way members would have approved that ... as at that time there were already members disappointed with the ACC deal / payout and wanted more money. He’s wrong RIGHT? Phillips graciously “EXTENDED” in time?
It would be insane if Phillips did that without the permission of the conference members. I wonder if it was within his powers as commissioner to sign the extension on his own. That would have to be documented somewhere.Reading that document it appears that the original option didn't expire on January 1st, 2021 as believed, but rather on the two year anniversary date of the launch of ACCN, which was August 22, 2019. If that's the case...the current deal should be null and void since Phillips did so without member approval. The next renewal date doesn't mean **** then. In theory, everyone should be able to leave the ACC RIGHT NOW, paying only the conference exit fee (and maybe not even that).Reading that document it appears that the original option didn't expire on January 1st, 2021 as believed, but rather on the two year anniversary date of the launch of ACCN, which was August 22, 2019. Can you walk us through your thoughts a bit more?Extremely generous interpretation, but whatever makes the noles happy I guess. That is exactly what the FSU position is publicly at this point. Any material change in the ACC media agreement requires, as per the bylaws, 2/3rds member approval. Phillips acted "unilaterally" without member approval. That is issue #1 ... invalid extension. Issue #2 'reportedly', as stated in the Clemson suit, is that the ESPN agreement clearly states that the media rights for future games remain with ESPN "only so long as a member remains a member of the conference". Then Issue #3 ... is the potential activation of the composition clause by ESPN ... and according to comments there are actions that can be taken both due to teams being added or teams leaving the ACC. Today, August 2nd., we have two additional teams officially joining the ACC ... Cal & Stanford. So we could see some action by ESPN who, so far, has been quiet publicly. If that's the case...the current deal should be null and void since Phillips did so without member approval. With all due respect, that regalnole guy has on numerous occasions triumphantly proclaimed : that's it!, it's done! Were out!, etc . As you know nothing has actually happened, still speculation by all parties at this time. That is exactly what the FSU position is publicly at this point. As for RegalNole, ah, don't lump him in with Genetics and Flugaur. No idea if he actually had seen the ESPN media agreement at some point in the past, but he was a senior executive in the media industry, recently retired to Daytona Beach. He might have worked with either FOX or ESPN at some point, but he has been spot on regarding the 2027 expiration date of the ESPN media agreement from day 1. Will be interesting to see what, if anything, happens between now and August 15, but the public perception has changed a bit .... from "the media agreement runs until 2036 to OOPS, the media agreement only runs until June 30, 2027, and the option to extend ... might have questionable legal basis".
Don't lump RegalNole in with Genetics and Flugaur? Why not? Because he wrote on the Warchant forum that he was a senior executive in the media industry and recently retired to Daytona Beach? JFC, did he write that he stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night as well? That is exactly what the FSU position is publicly at this point.
