Comparing Miami and FSU

Again, No way O'lEARY is better than Walford, Clevland and Sandland. FSU has no other quality TE on their roster.

tajh boyd is going to embarrass the fsu secondary. Our coaches will be studying that game heavily. It's pointless to speculate on the game now as FSU has played no real competition. Our game against UF can be thrown out the window because their defense is much better than FSU's and we'll be able to run on FSU I believe, we weren't on florida.

If we can't stop the run, we are ****ed.

I don't really have much respect for their OL. They are much like ours IMO, more hype than substance. Their backs are average. However it's the best FSU WR group in years and O'Leary, despite being a *****, is a pain in the ***. All the athletes in this game on both sides and it's going to come down to the trenches (and maybe turnovers)

We blitz Fentress hit him late with Helmet to the head. Fentress takes one for the team.

FSU has not played a team this season that is close to them in talent and speed. None of the teams they have played have had the ability to even test them. Boston College scored in the 30s against their defense and they are no better than average on offense. It will be interesting to see FSU play Clemson because it will be the first time FSU has even played a talented team. I've listened to a lot of Noles and it's the same old crap, they think no one can beat them.

You can say the same thing about us (have not played anyone with speed, talent, etc. or played a team that could test us).

I agree with bomb, this game will be a war. Winston is the truth and if you don't think they don't have players, you are not being realistic. And, to answer your question, lol at not trading any players for theirs. SMH.

I like where your heads at, but you're crazy if you're dismissing Florida and saying they were not a true test for us.

They are somewhat down offensively but their defense is ELITE, they went 11-1 last year and ran through the SEC, and might be even better now with Murphy at the helm instead of Driskel. Florida also manhandled FSU last year. Florida had and has the talent, speed, etc. and they did test us heavily. We got some breaks in turnover margin and our D stepped up huge, but it's not like we beat them soundly by any means, the game was not over until the duke td late

these comparisons really aren't helpful. first, our TEs don't compete with their TEs. Second, even if you conduct the comparison, it's not terribly meaningful to compare O'Leary to the collective abilities of all three of our TEs, as the TEs on either team will make a handful of plays at most, whether spread out among 3 TEs or directly thrown to O'Leary.

and at the risk of continuing these unhelpful comparisons...based on the performances thus far, FSU has the advantage with Winston and their receivers vs. Morris and our receivers, particularly with Morris being hobbled. As someone correctly observed, Rashad Green is a true #1.

But all this said, it's a rivalry game that will come down to the fourth quarter, and turnovers will likely dictate the winner. They have the advantage on paper - if for no other reason than it's a home game -- but the game is not played on paper. it will be exciting to FINALLY have a UM v. FSU battle, where both teams are in the top 10. i can't remember the last time that occurred.

I just don't see where FSU has a big advantage like they have had the last few years. That offense has looked unbelievable but we could have a healthy Deon Bush by then. I think we'll have a better idea after they play Clemson. That should be one of the best games of the year.

Agreed.

The past few years they were clearly better than us on both sides of the lines. We were going to need a few bounces to go our way to pull it off.

This year if anyone has the advantage up front its us. That filters down to the athletes on both sides which are generally close to each other.

Wilder has been able to overpower us but I don't see that happening. If he does and this ends up a shootout I don't trust Morris enough to consistently put up points without making some mistakes.

Also Wheeler better be our starting center. The only area they have us is if Jernigan can match up with McDermott.

I don't remember a ranked team beating another ranked team as badly as they did Maryland. Even when people claim Maryland is overrated, when's the last time a ranked team tuned up another one 63-0?

When we beat the asshat out of Washington in 01 and id it to Syracuse a week earlier on a smaller scale. Difference was Dorsey wasnt in the game chucking the ball down field late in the game.

Actually what FSU did to MD was worse, scoreboard-wise. So we still don't have an answer to his question. I can't think of one, personally. And if one was to argue that that ARE equal beatdowns, which I don't see how we can, you just put this FSU team in the same sentence as the greatest college football team of all time.

25th ranked team that made a one-week appearance in the polls= 'ranked'?

Now give Maryland their dues, they did beat FIU and Old Dominon and a WV team who just got beat by Baylor and gave up 70. Top 25 my ***. The Noles have beat no one close to a top 25 team. This Nole team has yet to face a team with close to their talent. Winston has been running for his life against average teams.

We played teams that were ranked in November, not a team making it's first appearance in the polls at 25th, in September.

Miami's DL > FSU's DL

We've got pass rushers (McCord, AQM, Gilbert)

We've got run stoppers (Porter, Pierre, Renfrow, Luther)

We even have guys that do a bit of both (Chick, Shayon, Kamalu)

FSU has a very good DL but they don't have one or two true pass rushing specialists like they usually do.

Ohhh Lawwddddd
You have been going hard in this thread buddy, keep fighting the good fight.

I agree FSU isnt even ranked in the top 100 for sacks.... Miami's d-line is much more active then FSU's d-line. Our d-line is unique b/c we have personnel groupings that we use that i havent seen any other team do, that allows our pass rushers (McCord and AQM) to always be fresh against a tired o-line thats been going up against Chickillo, Green, Gilbert, and Kamalu an entire game.

Miami's LBs are better then FSU's LBs too..... they have more depth but our 2 deep is better then FSU's and its not even close imo.

Miami has the better duo of safeties in Rayshawn Jenkins and Deon Bush as well.... Jalen Ramsey is a playmaker though.

Miami's Oline will be able to hold up more then they did against FLorida.... and i trust Stephen Morris to be able to continue to make plays.

Miami's defense is better then FSU's defense.....

the difference will be which defense is going to get exposed more then the other..... which offense is going to make plays under pressure.

Jameis Winston aint going to have time to do all that Ben Roethlisburger **** when McCord and the crew is getting into the backfield.... we getting pressure w/ just a 4 man rush, James Winston is going to have to make a lot of tough throws against Miami and prove it.

Im reserving my comments until FSU plays Clemson and then I will revisit this thread.

The Canes have played two quality defenses in Florida and Tech. Florida has best in country and Tech was highly ranked coming into our game. I would say Tech was better than any team the Noles have faced so far. They poise a lot more problem on offense than the teams the Noles have played. Again, remember Tech and the Noles in the ACC Championship game and how close that game was.

UF is an elite defense, one of the best if not best with Easley but GTs defense is not good, and please dont bring up stats from the first third of the season. If you want to revisit this at the end of the year, I will be here. Now talking about Miami vs FSU, we win this game by punching FSU in the mouth and they just arent ready for us. We are not as talented as them yet, they have their own issues and lose games they should not every year, but people downplaying their talent is crazy.
