Comparing Miami and FSU

Has Winston, or their DT's faced rushers as quick as McCord or AQM?

They really haven't faced a great pass defense yet, and they are still giving up pretty heavy sack numbers (64th in the Nation in Sacks allowed).

BC is probably the best pass defense they've faced (36th in YPG allowed) and FSU didn't exactly dominate them by any means.

Clemson is the best pass rush team in the country at the moment (3.8 sacks per game) and they are 17th in Passing YPG allowed. Winston is going to be pressured probably all game.

I really don't think FSU is going to give Clemson much of a game and that's not a knock on them, FSU just can't win in Death Valley and Clemson is one of the 3 best teams in the country.

Looking at this objectively:

QB: Slight nod to FSU

RB: Miami

WR/TE: Even

OL: Even

DL: Miami

LB: Even

DB: Miami

While I think FSU is a really good team, I feel like we match up really well with them. We have a heavy pass rush that gets after the QB and wants to get the ball out, we have BIG elite athletes at DB to match up with there tall & fast WR's. Our Lbs are fast strong and smart and play the traditional run exceptionally well. Our offense seems to be able to score on anybody (even the Gayturds). It will be the game of the season.

Can we compare miami to UNC first. We always slip up looking ahead to the big games. For those who forgot we lost to UNC last year, NC state almost beat us at home, Duke gave us a hard time, and UVA beat us. We need to concentrate on winning those games this year, Fsu is not even worried about us they have a much more important clemson game before us. By winning every other game we will end up 11-1 in the ACCCG. Fsu will be icing on top, not to mention we can lose to FSU and still make it to the championship game vs clemson. Our most important game this year will be Va Tech to wrap up the coastal, but not too look ahead we need beat UNC.

QB: FSU
RB: FSU- Duke is the best of the bunch but we have a major drop off after that. They got 3 real good backs.
OL-Miami
TE-Even
WR-FSU, but this one is pretty close. They get the nod because Greene is a true #1 guy, our #1 one guy is only a true freshman.

DL-FSU, not even remotely close, anybody saying otherwise is chugging kool aid
LB-Even, Perryman and Telvin Smith are beasts
DB-FSU, we have great talent there but all our talent is young. They have young talent and vets that are good.

Living in Tally, I've watched all of their games. I honestly believe they're going to work Clemson. Clemson's defense is still untested except for UGA and they didn't look that great in that game. As far as our matchup, I'd take:
QB -FSU
RB - FSU (Duke is the best of all, but they've got more proven depth)
WR - FSU They are helping make Winston look all-world and get constant separation - we're getting close
TE - UM
OL - UM (not always consistent)
DL - FSU
LB -tie
DB - FSU this year since Bush is not back totally
K - FSU
P - UM

Crawford has more rushing TDs than any single Nole back.

I think it's a push, at worst.

I'll take the early loss in the year against FSU , provided we beat them in the ACC championship.

Personnel wise, on defense, Miami has better starting LBs then FSU.... Telvin smith, Christian Jones, and Terrance Smith would be coming off the bench at Miami. They win the depth battle b/c they have way more talented young LB's then Miami currently has on roster.

Secondary FSU is deeper but Miami's 2 starting corners (Gunter and Howard) i'd take over Lamarcus Joyner and PJ Williams any day. Safeties, i'd take Deon Bush and Rayshawn Jenkins any day over Jalen Ramsey and Terrance Brooks. Jalen Ramsey is a stud at corner or safety though.

D-line is hard to say.... of course FSU is "deeper" w/ more talent perhaps but right now Miami's 2 deep is just as talented as FSU's any day but also has been much more productive.

Offense, its a toss-up..... Miami and FSU's offenses are both lethal.

Wide Receiver and Tight End is a toss-up....

Runningback i'd give the edge to FSU b/c imo they have 3 number 1 running backs on the depth chart.... imo Karlos Williams could be the most dangerous. It's only a slight edge though.

The O-line edge goes to Miami... FSU has a good o-line but Miami's is better.

Quarterbacks is a toss-up b/c Stephen Morris and Jameis Winston both are talented enough to get the job done and both teams are 2 deep at QB w/ Ryan Williams and Jacob Coker.

You cant out talent FSU.... and Miami is now at the point where we cant be out talented either. This game is going to come down to execution and toughness. Whichever team shows that they want to win more then the other for 4 quarters is going to win the game.

The most important thing in this game is to get to Winston, if we don't it's going to be a long night. Not sure we can trade TD's with them, I'd bet not. We need our DE's to play the game of their lives and maybe throw in someone with blazing speed to blitz once in a while. We need to get after Winston something fierce, we do that and we can win.

Lol @ QB being a toss-up

Morris can barely complete a game without throwing a pick and Jameis is the hottest QB in the country right now.

Agreed. I think it will depend largely on how well we defend their running game with our wide nine front personnel. The way McCord and AQM sprint off the edges in that wide nine alignment we run the pressure will be there to cause havoc. The down side to that alignment is that it provides natural running lanes between the tackles. However, since coach D plays a lot of single high safety looks, getting that eighth defender in the box would help negate those inside runs. In addition, we would be essentially running a 4-4 defense, so there should be some robber coverage looks to help control the middle of the field routes as well as keep an eye on Winston taking off to avoid the outside pressure. Our corners need to be on their game. Showing a pre snap technique and actually playing another is where the money is going to be made. We've got to give Winston different stuff to digest post snap. Hopefully with the disguising going on in the secondary and that longated throwing motion he has the pressure will get home. But it all starts by stuffing their ground game.

Here's the thing, to beat this FSU team, Miami has to be **** near perfect. No turnovers. None. Must score with every drive. Our Dline and the pressure they get on Winston will be the key.

No turnovers and must score every drive on the road against a top 10 teams. Got it
