Comparing Miami and FSU

Here's the thing, to beat this FSU team, Miami has to be **** near perfect. No turnovers. None. Must score with every drive. Our Dline and the pressure they get on Winston will be the key.

"Must score with every drive"? GTFO

I just want both teams to be undefeated when they face each other. What a atmosphere it'll be.

UF's defense is MUCH better than FSU's

We haven't seen a passing offense like FSU's

FSU's run game is meh........GT is the best running team we will play this year (they always are)

Who really knows. We are both dominating teams we are supposed to dominate except we've played an NFL defense in Florida alreasdy

The most important thing in this game is to get to Winston, if we don't it's going to be a long night. Not sure we can trade TD's with them, I'd bet not. We need our DE's to play the game of their lives and maybe throw in someone with blazing speed to blitz once in a while. We need to get after Winston something fierce, we do that and we can win.

Agreed. I think it will depend largely on how well we defend their running game with our wide nine front personnel. The way McCord and AQM sprint off the edges in that wide nine alignment we run the pressure will be there to cause havoc. The down side to that alignment is that it provides natural running lanes between the tackles. However, since coach D plays a lot of single high safety looks, getting that eighth defender in the box would help negate those inside runs. In addition, we would be essentially running a 4-4 defense, so there should be some robber coverage looks to help control the middle of the field routes as well as keep an eye on Winston taking off to avoid the outside pressure. Our corners need to be on their game. Showing a pre snap technique and actually playing another is where the money is going to be made. We've got to give Winston different stuff to digest post snap. Hopefully with the disguising going on in the secondary and that longated throwing motion he has the pressure will get home. But it all starts by stuffing their ground game.
Excellent post +Rep

Little off topic but...anyone else think that Jimbo will be a short list candidate for the Texas job?

His resume fits: middle aged, white, over rated, good ol' boy. He is basically Mack Brown.

If FSU works Clemson over like I think they will, we are in for a very long night in Tally. And Jimbo wont step off the gas pedal if they get rolling. We have basically a month to prepare so we better start looking at them now.

They have O'Leary but name another TE on FSU team. They had one quit and one injured. They moved a DT or DE to that position for needed depth. Walford, Asante and Sandland are much better as a unit. Defensively the Noles DEs are getting no pressure and this is straight from their board.

we've lost 3 years in a row, this time we're due. Our team is focused and smell whats around the corner if they win that game.

its hard for fsu to beat us at our best and right now its the best we've been since that 2009 win, we rock them again in tally this year!

If there D was as good as last years I would say no chance we beat them, but they look like they tok a step back on D so we can win. The new problem though is gayness winston though, we will see if the guy will be a thorn in our side for years to come. Or will beat his bloody body and declare we r back to the national media.

Defensively Canes need to be stout on 1st and 2nd down, force them into passing situations where we can get our Rush specialists on the field (McCord, AQM) and cause a few turnovers.

Offense needs to be mistake free (a la UF game) and force longer drives.

Gonna be an absolute dogfight (insert Bart Scott gif)

Miami's DL > FSU's DL

We've got pass rushers (McCord, AQM, Gilbert)

We've got run stoppers (Porter, Pierre, Renfrow, Luther)

We even have guys that do a bit of both (Chick, Shayon, Kamalu)

FSU has a very good DL but they don't have one or two true pass rushing specialists like they usually do.

Looking at this objectively:

QB: Slight nod to FSU

RB: Miami

WR/TE: Even

OL: Even

DL: Miami

LB: Even

DB: Miami

Let's see what this fsu qb can do against clemsom before we start crowning him! not sure our Rbs are that much better than their's. I do believe if healthy we will win especially becuase of our senior qb and the defense.

I'll ride with Duke, Hagens, Dallas, and Gus over Freeman, Abram, Wilder, and Williams. Mainly because Duke is much better than any of the guys on either rooster.

fsu still hasn't played anybody... and I think we could have done more against UFs D had we not shut ourselves down to avoid mistakes.

I don't remember a ranked team beating another ranked team as badly as they did Maryland. Even when people claim Maryland is overrated, when's the last time a ranked team tuned up another one 63-0?

When we beat the asshat out of Washington in 01 and id it to Syracuse a week earlier on a smaller scale. Difference was Dorsey wasnt in the game chucking the ball down field late in the game.

Clemsons speed will be shocking compared to what FSU has faced. Pitt,BC are not known for their team speed and the only team Maryland has beat is a crap WV team who just gave up 70 to Baylor. Miami beat a very fast Gator team and a Tech team who poses problems for everyone. Ask FSU how tough Tech was for them in the ACC championship game, results in that game were a lot closer than our game with Tech. Noles say what you want but Canes had a 22 point lead with one minute to go against Tech.
