Coley on his offense

You do realize when he was with the texans he was defensive quality control. He wasn't making play books like designing them, he was more constructing them.

No, the first year they developed practice plans, made playbooks, and broke down film and constructed the Texans from scratch. Then he became the defensive quality control guy to become a well rounded football coach.

Design playbooks, make playbooks, construct playbooks.... all sounds the **** same to me! Now you're just splitting hairs. I'll find the article where Jedd also apart of "constructing" the Ravens playbook. Jedd was brought to Miami to design a playbook for Miami whether you guys want to believe or not. Coley isn't starting from scratch here. Believe that!

To you it may be the same thing but its not the same. No way does a guy going from designing a playbook (creating plays, terminology, install packets, etc.) to being a quality control job on the defense. Quality control is pretty much like being a GA at the NFL level.

I have nothing bad to say about Jedd but him being the next bill Walsh is not the case.

No one starts from scratch but this isn't going to be Jedd's stuff.

hold on. Fisch was just a position coach in the league...how was he designing playbooks? On top of that he worked for a couple really good head coaches who were offensive guys who had a strong hand in the playbook (Billick and Shanahan)

The legend of Jedd Fisch grows. The guy is talented and actually may develop into something great in the pros. He just hasn't put it together up to this point.

Exactly how I see it. He did a pretty good job, but the way he's revered around these parts you'd think he was Sid Gillman or Don Coryell. And when did he become this renowned playbook designer whatever that is anyway?

Playbook design means just that. Making a playbook for an offense. I was under the assumption you knew a little bit about Jedd when we hired him...

"In 2001, Dom Capers, a longtime NFL defensive mastermind, had been hired to be the founding coach of the expansion Houston Texans franchise. When looking to hire a staff, Capers called up his old friend Spurrier and asked for a recommendation. Spurrier had the perfect guy in mind.

Jedd Fisch, welcome to Houston.

“I was fortunate that of the 11 years Coach Spurrier was there at Florida, he recommended me to go of all the people he had worked with,” Fisch said.

So Fisch was off to Texas, forming one part of a three-headed crew — along with Capers and Chris Palmer — that laid the foundation for the organization a whole year before the team even played its first game. The threesome spent eight months building the program during Year 0 of the franchise, developing practice plans, making playbooks, breaking down film and constructing the Texans from scratch."

That's all you could dig up? A reporter's claim that Fish, as a 24 year old in his first year in the NFL as a DEFENSIVE quality control guy, was designing playbooks. The "making playbooks" bit wasn't a quote. It was a throw away line from the reporter. Ouch. I'd delete that post if I was you, brother. That's a rough one. If I could suggest anything it's don't heel dig on this and try to turn it into something it isn't. Just admit you tripped on your d1ck and move on.

Again, Jedd was brought in to design a playbook for Al Golden. Coley was brought in to learn that playbook, add to it, draw up game plans, and call plays. This offense is not going back to square one just because Jedd left. Jedd used to design playbooks for the NFL and that's what he did here. It's easier for Coley to learn this playbook and terminology rather than install a new playbook for the entire offensive roster to learn. That's how Golden operates.

This is what I'm hoping for. Hope you know something we don't.

It's common sense...

Every year Saban's staff gets raided but Bama just keeps clicking right along. Why is that? Because good coaches have their systems in place and the new staff is expected to learn it and execute it. What's easier, having one experienced coach learn a new system or have 45 college kids learn a new system every time a new coach is hired?

This is Goldens offense that Coley will be expected to run. A new system isn't being installed this offseason.

Randy would beg to differ

i think KW had to learn a new system every year....literally

Give me a break! Making playbooks is a "throw away line from the reporter" now? LULZ!!!

Yeah, Jedd was brought along to build an NFL franchise from the ground up because he knew nothing about nothing and had no input whatsoever. He was hired with the Ravens and Broncos because he knew nothing and had zero input.

People on here claim that Golden isn't an X's and O's guy either. LULZ!!!

Keep thinking Coley was hired to install some new playbook that he brought along with him. When the offense look's just like it did last year we'll return to this thread. Jedd Fisch designing playbooks was just a legend, now once proven wrong it's just a throw away line from a reporter. LULZ!!!

If by "making playbooks" you mean standing next to the printer, laminating and hole punching stacks of papers making binders than yes, yes he did make playbooks.

I have an old Miami playbook on my computer. If I print it out and put it in a book can I then say I made Miami's playbook?

Who remembers when Jedd backed the QB up 5 yards and called it the shotgun. Revolutionized the game. Next thing you know there is going to be something called the pistol.

:ibisroflmao:

Jedd saw Otto Graham stumbling on a hand-off to Marion Motley and invented the draw.
