God am I not looking forward to 6 months of Groundhog's Day part 2, the cane sequel, posts as both sides completely repeat he same points over and over again as if we all haven't got the point already.

Our posters also need a new scheme in addition to our D.

Our offense sucked on 3rd and top. I agree with golden. This is where Williams comes in. I do believe this will help. Slow methodical drives.

Lets just see if we can do it.

This doesn't say anything. Granted, Al is great with the media and its positively impacted our program so I enjoy that about him.

I really think our fundamental issue was we were not getting to the quarterback. Our blitzes weren't effective either. That 3-4 **** didn't fool anybody because we sent the same Jack from the same spot every time we did it.

The fix is simple for me. 4-3. More speed on the D-Line. I'd rather be aggressive, have the greater chance for sacks, fumbles, hurries, and picks, even if it means sacrificing a little size in the running game. It fits our personnel. It fits us historically. It fits the region we recruit. At some point, 4 years later, if you've failed to recruit the personnel to run your ****ty system then the onus is on you to adjust. We have 4 and 5 Stars all over this defense now, most of which are now very experienced, and there isn't a single valid excuse left. So you got your homie his one last year, hopefully he can work miracles. And no, being top 50 isn't a good enough improvement. Being bad isn't ok just because we've been awful.

Plenty of talent this year. Top 30 or GTFO.

It's not an either or argument since both will be played. Golden has always sold the concept of being multiple. And by that he meant playing at a both from a 1 or 2 gap scheme. He's just now getting to the point where the kids he's brought in are ready to play in the type of defense they've envisioned.

Everyone in the put up or shut up mentality is in for a rude awakening next season. The talent on the roster, combined with both the schedule and coaching, don't see how we win more than 7 or 8 games.

At this point, you cannot tell if the 2014 will be easier or tougher just by knowing who you will play. Teams can be worse/better than the prior year. Teams those teams play can be worse/better than the year before.

You have to wait until the season ends to truly know either way.

## Encouraging news for those who want to see UM blitz more and play more man coverage:*Al Golden said last week UM will be more aggressive in its defensive approach this season.

Here's how Golden answered when WQAM’s Channing Crowder asked Golden what he says to people who criticize him about his loyalty to defensive coordinator Mark D'Onofrio.*

"It doesn't have anything to do with my loyalty to D'Onofrio," he said. "It has to do with: We*were better this year than last year. And*two seasons ago we played 14 or 15 freshmen on defense. Now we're
better. We've been trying to add to that and improve on defense during a very difficult time.

"Here's what our defense was good enough to do last year: They were good enough to win nine. Now we've got to get better and win more games. The offense wasn't good on third down [or] time of possession. Both of those directly impact defense.

"Anybody who wants to blitz and play cover 1, who wouldn't want to do that? We feel we have a group here that is going to allow us to be more aggressive. The deeper you are, the more athletic you are, the more things you can do.*******

"You can call all the pressers you want. If your fourth and fifth [rushers] aren't getting there, someone is hung out to dry down the field. We've made a lot of progress there, adding 14 guys [on defense] that can help us.*Most of our guys that had interceptions, sacks, caused fumbles are returning. Why would we abort right now?"

I'll believe it when I see it. These statements are basically the same comments about the defense improving and being more aggressive that we've been fed for going on 3 years now.

And once again, he throws the offense under the bus. Was the offense good on 3rd downs and time of possession? Not at all. But the defense was bad on downs 1-4 most of the time and was easily the bigger problem of the two. Golden's favoritism is blatant.

True. I do predict, however, that the 2014 schedule will be more difficult than the 2013 schedule was. Our out of conference schedule should definitely be tougher. But I agree, a lot of that has to do with UF ****ting the bed, and we don't know who will pull a UF before the season starts.
