Clemson making more moves into Dade

Honestly, it’s our fault.

This is what happens when u leave the keys to the Ferrari to imbeciles. Whether it’ sleeping on the job, overly recruiting a couple of schools while willfully neglecting others, hiring a sales guy to coach, or hiring a guy way past his prime, our fence has been broken, trampled on, and utterly destroyed.

Our only defense against this onslaught was winning, and producing....not new buildings. Once the winning stopped, once we stopped producing 1st round picks, this was the inevitable. The ? will be, can we rebuild the fence and provide the lore we once had that will be able to convince some our elites to stay home?

This post should be required reading for every single person on the board.

Not sure who brought it up on this board but Clemson’s connection to new spring church in the upstate of South Carolina and the money that is rumored to be funneled through the church to players would make them untouchable. Churches are a tax exempt business(some major scum of the earth take people’s faith and use it to turn a huge profit). They brainwash employees and the higher ups get more wealthy then athletes. You don’t have to pay taxes on your money then the feds will never get involved. What resources do you think that assistant coach is talking about. The former pastor was a huge Clemson fan. The timeline of the rise of that church and the rise of the Clemson program are almost spot on. Dabo is a huge advocate of faith and specifically New Spring and the players all attend the church. The writing is on the wall but only a select few know for sure 100% was going on. But if Dabo built a pay for player scheme through a tax exempt business it’s pretty ingenious.

This is the Auburn & Alabama approach FMU. Disbursements via a major church.

I have been searching for an answer forever and no one seems to know the answer. Maybe you know. How does this scheme work exactly.

So the boosters donate money to the church. Church gets the money untaxed. I get that. Now how does the church use this money to pay players? Thanks.

They brainwash southern baptist people who love god to give their hard earned money back to the church. There are people(even less wealthy people) who give 10-15% of their income each year to the church bc it is the “godly” thing to do. I don’t know if the boosters donate through the church to wash the money or if they just give the money straight to the players.

(this is just one example of a church leader(not New Spring) and what he owns) New Spring is the biggest church in South Carolina, Churches don’t pay taxes so all this money is going somewhere. Once again the writing is on the wall just NCAA doesn’t want to connect the dots.

This is a rumor I have heard for years and I’ve seen mentioned on this board. I just added a little of my personal insight. And @TheToadSage has even more insight in his post from the transition from tommy Bowden to Dabo Sweeney.

When I attended this church years ago their Greenville campus was in a Marriott ball room, now they have campuses with actual churches throughout the state of South Carolina. I went with one of my college girlfriends from Gaffney SC and you would have thought I shot her dog bc I didn’t donate money on my first visit being a broke college kid. I don’t know the new pastor but perry noble came off to me as a straight con man.

So the best teams in the country have super churches backing their pay for player schemes. This is going to be a great documentary one day. If anyone has a 5 star recruit as a son please make the trips to these universities, collect the money, record everything on video then go to the highest media outlets and sell to the highest bidder. I’ll give 10% of my income to whoever exposes these con men taking advantage of a lot of simple minded people.

So you'd pay tithes to ruin the church but not support it?😂

I don’t support colts or con men who take advantage of simple minded people. That would be to ruin the Dabos, Sabans, and Kirbys of the world and the sick pastors they are in business with. There will always be good/bad churches(good and bad people in every business/profession) but yes if they are paying players, or buying personnel jets, or buying lambos and Ferrari’s and not using the excess money for what they are suppose to I would have no problem exposing them.

Clemson doesn’t even get many big time south Florida guys . In the past 3-4 cycles I can only remember them getting Trayvon Mullen and frank Ladson from down in the area which isn’t a lot. Bama and uga are bigger problems in the area as of right now

I’ve always said it, the more a coach talks about Christ the shadier a mother ****** he is. We got the one dude in Richt who talks a lot about God and also sucks at buying players.

Your right Brock they go country wide for their recruits. Actually steal a lot of talent from Georgia too. DeSean Watson and Trevor Lawrence were both from Georgia.

Everyone steals from Georgia. Metro Atlanta is close to a lot of sec schools as well as being close to Clemson

youre going to do more than expose those specific schools. every school in the country has some sort of shadiness going on, including miami. theres a reason why schools dont rat each other out to the NCAA. no one wants to open that can of worms

That is why cheating through a church is a perfect dodge. The "donation bag" can be done as a cash. The IRS understands that churchs receives cash so they can't demand to know where the money came from. The booster can claim a certain level off cash donations as tax deductible charity without receipt - but it in the poor box. So can their wife, brother, friend and dog. The IRS rarely audits church's, so it is the perfect non traceable bag. A loving church just decides to give a poor mom a new house and car. But this has nothing to do with the fact that her baby boy is a 6:5, 325 lb. 5 star DT.

We want an even playing field because we cant hang with these super churches and the amount of money they throw at recruits. It’s naive to not think every college pays just some have a way bigger budget. The NCAA needs to pay the kids to even the playing field and expose these massive pay for play schemes.

In and of itself, this will do little to alleviate the problem of paying for recruits. No matter what these kids would/could be paid, they can always be paid more. Even if schools were paying football players $5K a month, why not take $5K a visit, too, or $100K and a job for mom for signing?

More. There's always the possibility of more.

This is where I get confused.

What is the benefit to donating the money through the church? Giving it straight to the players is also tax free so there is no reason to give it to the church first.
