You coach at Western, right?

Lewis led his team in receptions and caught a TD against you, right? What was so unimpressive? Not hating, just curious.

Lewis is a good ball player but I never saw explosiveness from him... I saw shiftiness and a fundamental ball player... Good route runner, good hands, and field awareness... He wasn't the 2nd or 3rd most explosive player. I think that was an exaggeration but he is a good player...

Yeah, he caught a 5 yard slant for a TD on a play where my Linebacker (who was supposed to cover underneath Lewis) wasn't getting to his proper drop depth. Ultimately it was a coaching blunder cause we should've been in 'man' coverage anyway. (Dowels was the CB on Malcolm's side)

Other than that he caught a couple short passes where he tried to shake and bake but really didn't get anywhere.

They threw a bomb to him earlier in the game and Dowels, who was a 10th grader at the time, out-jumped Malcolm for the interception.

Again, not saying he's a JAG, but he didn't leave the impression on me that other top South Florida offensive players have. (i.e. Coley, Grooms, Montgomery, Furgeson, Burgess-Becker, Ridley, etc.) Basically, I wasn't cringing when he caught a ball and started running. We simply tackled him.

We're freakin' Western High School. Most "explosive" players do pretty well against us. Honestly, if my dumbass had recognized how good Juwan Dowels was back then I would've put him on Malcolm the whole game and he probably wouldn't have caught a ball.

What's funny is...

The reaction to opinions depends on A) who's saying it, and B) if it follows the majority.

My opinion was valid when I was talking about Coley for the last 3 years and how awesome he was, and how he torched my defense for a winning TD. But, now I have an opinion that is against the majority when I say that Lewis isn't as special as our fans make him out to be. All of a sudden I'm an idiot.

I ****in' talked about my experience with Coley and got 1,293,939 likes but people are crying blasphemy with my opinion of Lewis. I'm sure people love my personal experience with KC McDermott cause I said he was awesome and a savage on the field. Give a negative assessment of a UM recruit/player though.... *tisk tisk*

This ****in' site man. I swear. Lmao

Wildcat,

Here is my evaluation of you. You have 1,700 posts on a free message board that has been in existence for about 3 years. That is an average of almost 5 posts per day, every day since its inception. You claim to be an excellent coach and talent evaluations. Football is a tremendously prosperous business. The free market dictates that you don't know your *** form your elbow because if you had 1/20th of the knowledge as you proclaim, somebody would pay you a bunch of money to do it for a living and you wouldn't be on a message board every day trying to build credibility.

I know plenty of people with more experience than you who think your evaluation of Malcolm Lewis is ridiculous. Take their job or STFU.

The end.

Getting coaching gigs doesn't work like that, buddy. I know you don't know this, but it's the truth. Getting a college coaching job isn't about how much you know, it's about WHO you know and where you been.

Friggin' half my coaching staff coached in college before they ended up at Western High School, so there goes your logic. I don't know who lied and told you that college coach are all-knowing. I know guys working in college right now that will tell you that's completely false.

****, there's high school coaches in Texas that would dance circles around college coaches.

You think none of these college coaches started in high school? I'm still a young coach.

If you disagree with the things I say, or are implying that I don't know half of what I claim, then prove me wrong. When football discussions arise, shut me up. You can't though, and you won't, cause you're one of the people that throws jabs and insults instead. It's easy to say "You're just a know-it-all and slapdick high school coach that don't know ****." Anybody can do that. How many people can SHOW that person that they don't know **** and put them in their place? I've been waiting for years. I'm objective and open-minding and would be all ears. Be my guest.

As much as I think Blackvern is an ******* he just told the absolute truth... Coaching is a lot about politics & who you're friends with... I work with a former coach who was on staff with the Titans, Ole Miss & Vandy. We talk about this all the time.

So anyway, about the dustup in the locker room, do we have any information on that?

Girls flag football, bro. I'm done with tackle! This flag **** is way harder. Gotta cover 6 receivers with 6 defenders instead of 7.

I cant lie when Malcolm Lewis caught that screen pass and ran right into the back of an offensive lineman..I was surprised as the next man... That showed a severe lack of athleticsm... not a good sign...

You mean like Dallas Crawford and Gus Edwards have been doing all year?

You run press coverage?

Getting coaching opportunities is a lot about who you know but you can make your own opportunities. Buddy volunteered 1 year which turned into a GA position at another D1 school. Then got an OC job and was a college HC at 28 (small division). He didn't play college football either.

So you should have some pretty good contacts then huh? Funny thing is....not to many highly successful coaches go the route of High School---->College----->back to high school.

Generally when you make those contacts (in college as a GA, assistant) you tend to be able to stay in the college game if you're worth a ****.

Looks like your former coaching colleagues career trajectory is in the *******.

If coaching is really in your blood get your *** up to Indianapolis for the AFCA conference in two weeks and get some resumes and talk some football with coaches. Get a GA job, prove your worth, make some good contacts and stay on the move.

Mike Leach's book "Swing your Sword" is a pretty good read. Talks about his odd path into his career in coaching.
