Friggin' half my coaching staff coached in college before they ended up at Western High School, so there goes your logic. I don't know who lied and told you that college coach are all-knowing. I know guys working in college right now that will tell you that's completely false.

So you should have some pretty good contacts then huh? Funny thing is....not to many highly successful coaches go the route of High School---->College----->back to high school.

Generally when you make those contacts (in college as a GA, assistant) you tend to be able to stay in the college game if you're worth a ****.

Looks like your former coaching colleagues career trajectory is in the *******.

If coaching is really in your blood get your *** up to Indianapolis for the AFCA conference in two weeks and get some resumes and talk some football with coaches. Get a GA job, prove your worth, make some good contacts and stay on the move.

Mike Leach's book "Swing your Sword" is a pretty good read. Talks about his odd path into his career in coaching.

Actually, one of the guys is back in the college ranks now.

There is no rule that says college coach = better coach. There's coaches that have gone STRAIGHT TO COLLEGE, with no high school experience. There's high school coaches that could dance circles around college guys but simply prefer to coach high school. And there's high school guys who are slapdicks and were given college positions simply for recruiting purposes. (they're all over college football)

Matter of fact, the DC who had Western's defense ranked dead last this season game directly from college.

You're implying that high school guys would be coaching college if they were worth a ****. That couldn't be further from the truth. Michael Barrow is "worth a ****" more than a Linebacker coach at (say) St. Thomas or De La Salle? (or wherever)

I've been to many coaching clinics. Not all of these college guys are geniuses and all-knowing. Some of them are glorified yes-men.

I agree with you Wildcat. I'm just saying the career tragetory from high school to college and back to high school isn't common. Generally if you coach in college and you are worth a ****.....you stick, no?

Slappy, What does it say about your career going from a high school football coach,(supposedly), on an average team, to the girls flag football coach. Spin that one and show us how that is a step up in your profession. By the way how poor of a coach are you if they replaced you with a coach that did a worse job than you? I believe those words were right out of your mouth.

See, the only way for me to defend myself is to start listing accomplishments I've made at this podunk *** school but then that would make me sound even more big-headed and arrogant. (which I'm sure people on here will have fun with)

I didn't get replaced. Our whole staff took off. Then they brought in a new head coach who I, and my OC, decided to let burn in a fire by himself.

By the way, you're not exactly picking up on some of my sarcasm.

You keep trying to clown on me, but it's hard to clown on a coach who's produced top defenses and top units when you do nothing more than sit on your couch. If you were a coach, you could talk.

What if you go from college to high school then back to college? LOL

How many college teams are there in the nation? Hundreds. **** happens. Head coaches get fired and assistants are left hanging, looking for jobs, while slapdick guys from high school get major D-1 position gigs because they coached at a high school that's a feeder. (i.e. I know RB coaches who are better than Hurlie Brown and Linebacker coaches who are better than Mike Barrow)

Not all great coaches end up at prominent programs. What if a great coach's first position gig is at 1-11 Georgia Southern Tech State or North Dakota A&M?

You coach at Western, right?

Lewis led his team in receptions and caught a TD against you, right? What was so unimpressive? Not hating, just curious.

Yeah, he caught a 5 yard slant for a TD on a play where my Linebacker (who was supposed to cover underneath Lewis) wasn't getting to his proper drop depth. Ultimately it was a coaching blunder cause we should've been in 'man' coverage anyway. (Dowels was the CB on Malcolm's side)

Other than that he caught a couple short passes where he tried to shake and bake but really didn't get anywhere.

They threw a bomb to him earlier in the game and Dowels, who was a 10th grader at the time, out-jumped Malcolm for the interception.

Again, not saying he's a JAG, but he didn't leave the impression on me that other top South Florida offensive players have. (i.e. Coley, Grooms, Montgomery, Furgeson, Burgess-Becker, Ridley, etc.) Basically, I wasn't cringing when he caught a ball and started running. We simply tackled him.

We're freakin' Western High School. Most "explosive" players do pretty well against us. Honestly, if my dumbass had recognized how good Juwan Dowels was back then I would've put him on Malcolm the whole game and he probably wouldn't have caught a ball.
