CB Recruiting

I get the whole bag game and Auburn most definitely has no shortage of alumni friends of the program. It just seems that there must be something more to it since they aren't the only ones who play the bag game.

No, but maybe when they do for a specific target - they really set the price.

I mean - a Corvette??? How in Hades . . .

That's another thing that completely mystifies me. This interest in Auburn. I can understand if you live in Alabama but for a Florida kid to be geeked over going to Auburn I don't get at all. WTF is in that town anyway? The education sucks. The town sucks. The team doesn't consistently win. What could Kendall Dennis possibly see in Auburn? That they are in the SEC? That's the only thing I can see they have going for them. I don't get snubbing UM for Auburn. Makes zero sense to me.
$$$$$$

I'd settle for just 1 5* one of these years.
I’d argue that elder..bandy..Jackson..Colbert all performed and produced like 4* and 5* players..point is I trust the staff To continue to get their guys and develop them..

Like Tracy Howard? I'll take more Redwine's and Jackson's actually
Great point..out Tracy here with this system and staff and he balls in this system..star rankings out of Hs ain’t everything. Most those highly ranked guys get by on god giving gifts on that level..in college everybody has physical talent

That is exactly the reason. Kids want to play in the SEC. Its a fact. Just look at last years classes.

The Big 12 had 2 teams that had above 50% BC ratios(Texas and OU) and only 2 teams with 5 stars. The rest of the teams classes were pathetic with the next best class only having 11% Blue chips.

Pac 12 had 2 teams with above 50% BC ratios(wash and Oregon) and only Oregon had a 5star. The next best class was under 35% in Stanford and under 30% in USC. The rest of the teams classes were jokes.

The ACC had 0 teams with above 50% BC ratios and only 1 team landed a 5star(Clemson).
Clemson came close to 50 %. FSU was about 42%. Miami about 38%. Va Tech about 30% with the rest of the schools classes being straight trash.

The Big 10 had 3 teams with above 50% bc ratios(Michigan, Penn State, OSU) and 4 teams with 5 stars(with 3 of those teams landing multiple 5 stars). The next highest class was 33%(nebraska) BC ratio. However, Iowa, Wisconsin, and MSU generally do well with low ranked classes. The remaining schools have no excuse and the classes were pretty awful.

Then we have the SEC with 7 teams having above 50% BC ratios(Bama, UGA, TAMU, LSU, UF, AU, Tenn). 6 teams with multiple 5 stars and 3 teams with 1 5 star. Next highest class 45% BC ratio. Only 3 of these teams had terrible classes(Missouri, Vandy, and Kentucky).

The SEC benefits from being in the conference with Bama. These kids want to play in the best conference. They want to play where they have the best chance of playing in a NY6 bowl. These stats are amazing. The SEC has more teams with Multiple 5 stars than all the other confs combined. They also had more teams with any amount of 5 stars than all the other conferences combined. They also had the same amount of teams with above 50% bc ratios as all the other conferences combined.

This is why you constantly see SEC fans rooting for their rivals to beat OOC opponents.

So yes, AU being an above average SEC team is going to have kids wanting to go there over "good" schools in other conferences.

Hopefully, Clemson continues to be a powerhouse and kids start to want to play in the ACC over other conferences.

so flipping a michigan and bama recruit this past cycle and bringing multiple 4 stars the year before is bad recruiting?
It’s mind boggling how y’all can be satisfied with Cb recruiting with all the whiffs though. It could be so much better and y’all are missing that.

He was coached by ******* Dorito, nobody in that defense had a chance to be successful. A lot of Golden kids production improved with Diaz and staff I would put money we’d see Howard perform to his 5 star ability if he was there.

45.2 % of the Top 250 players last year were from the Southeastern section of the country, including Florida.
The best players are from that section of the country.
SEC recruiting success is helped when Miami and FSU are down.

Clemson has done it's part.
We have to get back on track.
I hate to say it, but it's good for us if the 'Noles get it together as well.

Good effort with the research, but to me they want to play in the best paying conference.

This is very true, but then why aren't the south eastern Big 12 and ACC teams recruiting at a level like this? The discrepancy is to large to just chalk it up to location.

That would give us 6 DBs. Or do you think one of our current commits won't be in this class? I know we'll likely take 25+ in this class, but I'm still wondering about numbers. I've heard people say we're taking 6 DL, 4 LBs. Add in 6 DBs and that's 16 players just on defense.

BTW, what's the story on Clarke?

I would hope we can take numbers similar to those below to balance out our roster going forward and preparing for contention in year 2.
14-16 on D (6 DL, 3-4 LBs, 5-6 DBs)
10-12 on O (4-6 OL, 1QB, 1-2 RBs, 1 TE, 3-4 WR)
1-2 special/ath (accounting for Restrepo here)

I know the coaches have targets and numbers in mind right now and it'll all balance out.

Are you kidding? Tracy Howard was coached by the worst DC in the history of CFB and still ended up floating around the league for 3 years. If Redwine or Jackson were playing under NO D their careers would have ended at the U.

Howard could've been an all ACC #2 CB in Diaz's scheme but he really lacked athleticism compared to the other two for the NFL. He had no chance being a 4.6-4.7 press corner and his game didn't translate to S.
