Yeah I’m not creaming my pants over anyone. That’s a pretty drastic drop off year over year with a UCL injury, chief. Are we getting 3,400 yards and 28 tuds or 2,500 and 18? We won’t have UGA defense to bail us out of multiple turnovers. It’s more than just the box score. I’m definitely taking him but measured in my assessment of what he does with our roster and circumstances

Welp, if he comes here great, after what we witnessed in the 2nd half of the Pop Tarts Bowl, then I’m happy. Concerns over his injury of course but if this is the way, then good deal. Not over ecstatic but he’s heads above what we have. Never know, a change of scenery can do wonders for players, so hoping he comes back strong and if he does come to Miami, then hope he leads us to the ACCCG and Playoffs.

Yep. I have friends in their recruiting dept, 1 is an analyst, and 1 in their training/s&c.. they’ve been spilling the beans on it to me.

He’s texted the guy in the recruiting dept but all in all they’ve kept it from team doctors, training staff, etc

Beyond the injury concerns and concerns over his play fall off this year.. I have my own concerns about his leadership, etc. I’ve heard some stories

the stretch of 11 picks is very concerning but hes the best option we have and the best well do right now in the portal so im on board. he can be TVD fro lashlee or TVD last year w Dawson where he was pick crazy. hopefully its the good version of him.

Mateer played 1 full season vs mountain west teams and his stats weren't as good as Beck's worst year playing the best defenses in the country.

I gotta give props to D Money. He has been on Carson Beck for awhile and D been bringing him up on his recent shows. My opinion on Beck has changed a lot from the SEC title game to now. I went from pass to I'm in love with the guy.

Is he an NFL QB? Yes.

Miami has had exactly ZERO QBs drafted higher than where Beck would’ve been picked this April in the last 30 years. Both things can be true.

Last year against SEC competition Beck threw 12 TDs and 12 Picks

He got his numbers against Tennessee Tech, Georgia Tech, Clemson and Umass.

he reminds of Spencer rattler. maybe lands as backup in the league or out in a few years but nevertheless kid has talent. fwiw, I dont think beck would have gotten drafted this year based on his 2024 season and injury. ewers was just as bad too

The offense won't be the most prolific offense the university has ever had. Thats how it'll be worse. Why will the running game be better? Your best back is gone

Beck played against the best competition for two years and Mateer played against no competition for one year w/Wash St having a P5 roster playing against mostly G5 opponents.

Washington State did not have a P5 roster. Half the ******* team left after last year and they were essentially a MW team.

And anyone saying Beck is better than Mateer is going to do nothing but toss out raw stats or something about the competition because they **** sure haven’t watched them play. It’s the same **** people did with Cam last year. The exact same thing.

Beck would elevate our QB room. By a lot. But he is not as good as Mateer.

Do the 4 teams in the playoffs have the most prolific offenses? No, they have good defenses with top 25 offenses. I just think you're myopic in that if the QB isn't Cam Ward we can't win games.

he was not very good pre injury this year. as I said, he was very TVD esque.

No. Smith and Lovett were his #1&2 options. Bell was probably his third. When Colbie was around there they pretty much exclusively used him as a back-shoulder/jump-ball WR

Ignoring all of the context around the team he played with, in what world were Mateer’s stats not as good as Beck’s? You just talking passing yards and touchdowns and ignoring him rushing for almost 1k and another 15 touchdowns?

He is 100 times better than Emory, and will be playing in a much more QB friendly system. I think he can get us to the 9-10 win mark for sure.

I’m not some kind of Carson Beck super fan. He’s not the first guy I would pick to play quarterback for us next year. He’s nowhere near Cam Ward.

But…he’s closer to Cam than he is to Emory. He will be playing behind a better offensive line than he was at UGA and against much weaker competition. He will have the benefit of a really good running game and a talented if unproven receiver group here. If he’s healthy, we can win the ACC and make the playoffs with him. We could do A LOT worse and anyone who watched the second half of the bowl game knows this.

He's a massive upgrade over Emory but we're still a 6-8 win team with him. We barely won 10 games with a generational QB this year.

The problem was his best catcher in several SEC games was an underneath defender that he either didn't see or chose the wrong type of throw to try to beat. Having subpar WRs doesn't make you throw picks.
