I love Nickel as a prospect. Everything I look for in a qb is there but in no way do you want him starting week one.

No, nice prospect but he’s not the immediate answer. Surrounded by ridiculous HS talent, rarely gets touched or even pressured. Plays designed to get ball out real quick, so not much reading defense.

Because those people believed the nonsense. I was always ok with Emory down the road if he showed something. Maybe a fourth or fifth year guy getting a year to start. But he’s shown nothing at this point to say he’s a guy. He actually looks the exact same as last year. In my mind he was never an option for the foreseeable future. There’s absolutely no chance he’s the guy in 25. That was never a question.

If we know Mario and Dennis Smith the way we think we know them and their evaluations, and their actions in the portal for a QB so far, I would say that it was definitely part of the plan at least up until the end of the 2nd half.

The Clemson and FSU game made one thing clear to me, his arm was so weak and his throwing motion was awful. I don’t take much from those game’s since he was a true Fr in a bad spot but there was no denying his limitations with the arm. I thought he had an average arm by his HS film but there’s no zip at all , nada.

After watching a season of Cam I went back and watched clips of Emory and the biggest thing that jumped out was how different the ball looked as it’s released. Emory has a straight up noodle attached to his shoulder. The only way you can get away with that is if you can read coverages as quickly as Cam, and Emory is just as deficient in that skill as well.

On top of all of this Emory did not appear confident at all. He looked very unsure of himself. Coaches did him no favors with playcalling but he was overall bad.

You saw the first 20 play calls like the rest of us brother. Do you think that’s a realistic option or any belief a staff thinks he’s the guy? I think it was pretty obvious what they thought. I bust Mario’s balls on a lot but until proven wrong I’ll ride with him on this situation. He knows the importance of this.

While people can point to Mateer, if the staff fully knew Emory not the guy, why aren’t our actions further supporting that?
We should have played Cam the whole game then and used it as a lasting showcase for our portal options.

I suppose all roads lead to a certain player, but if that next player doesn’t enter the portal, then we will have to wait until spring and bring on someone who lost their spring QB battle (we are not going to get a star at that time) and cram everything Cam did last spring to summer. That doesn’t bode well when looking at our OOC games next year.

Ewers really should look at returning to college . He’s not a first rounder , maybe not a second rounder either. He’ll make mad money in college compared to the NFL and actually play. I’d be ok with both of those guys at this point. Dawson has proven he can adjust his offense to guys like Milroe.

That was pretty bad yesterday. I want to blame Dawson, and he deserves blame for the 3rd and 6 WR screen, but Emory also did not make the throws needed to be a starting QB even in a ball control offense. That was not good. No way to spin it.

If he beats OSU/Oregon in the semifinals, he’s going pro. An NFL team will jump the gun and take him in the first round. Happens all the time. A lot of people thought Nix and Pennix would fall to the second round

Are these the only realistic haven’t changed spots yet QBs that even fit that mold? Hoover to me should likely be the one we go all in on for realistic moves but TCU also has $.

If I am throwing the money because of how many years he has left, I am throwing $10 million plus over 3 years for Leavitt.
