Carson Beck

Doesn't the portal close tomorrow until the spring? Guys like Beck and Ewers can't enter whenever they want right?

This is amazing. We couldnt get into the ACC title game and we have people that would otherwise be considered good posters in here arguing what might happen against the SEC champs.

You have jumped the shark, your blind rage has clouded your judgment.

Miami needs miracles to beat Virginia Tech and Cal Berkeley
and loses to Georgia Tech and Syracuse.

but some literal idiot believes we would beat GEORGIA.

you can't make up the insanity on this board!
The same Georgia Tech that was ahead by double digits in the 4th qtr and should have beat Georgia?

I’m not saying we absolutely win, but I like our chances. Georgia went through long stretches where points were hard to come by.

If Cam could score on Georgia (and there were enough teams that did), than it wouldn’t be out of the question we could win in a mini shoot out.

The thing with Beck isn't that he is not capable of leading us to the playoffs next year (he is capable of leading us to the playoffs), the problem is with his "value." Yes, there is no salary cap, but we only have so much money.

I think a good portion of us are fine bringing him in to likely start and at a minimum to compete with Emory. The issue is that he will command huge NIL that could potentially be spent elsewhere.

It certainly seems like this is the direction the U is headed though. 99.9% of this board has no idea if Emory can lead us to the playoffs, but I certainly trust the staff more than those of us who have not seen Emory outside of his appearances last year.

The reason NFL teams love having good QBs on rookie contracts is that it frees up money for the rest of the team...

Because 1) none of us really know where Emory is at in his development, and 2) what type of financial resources the U has at its disposal, the QB situation for 2025 is hard to comment on informatively.

Its all a big circle, but the logic tracks.

Vandy beats Bama->
Bama beats Georgia->
Georgia beats Georgia tech->
Vandy beats Georgia tech->
Georgia tech beats miami->

therefore miami beats georgia.

The staff knows what they have. If they continue to aggressively pursue a quarterback, it should tell you all you need to know. And yes, I’d rather they spend a ton on a quarterback than go cheap and try to win games 21-17 every week.

Maybe Shannon Dawson really likes Emory Williams. If so, they won’t push for a starting quarterback in the portal. If Miami continues to pursue transfers, it means they’re not settling on what they already have.

100% arguable on the OL side. RB - Georgia has the edge.
Honestly, Miami is better at both. UGA couldn’t run the ball at all this year. Beck carried the offense. 129 yards per game on the ground. They only cracked 150 yards against a D1 team once all year and it was week one against Clemson. Like every bro style coach, Mike Bobo’s offense falls apart when they can’t just run the ball down everyone’s throat.

Would you rather try and win games 21-17 or 42-38 every week?

🤷‍♂️

I guess you missed the Ole Miss, Bama, Kentucky, GTech & Texas (SEC title game) for UGA.

And when Notre Dame beats their *** I want you keep that same energy.
